This illustrious benefactor of man is also entitled

world, for tne invention of his matchless Sanative, j

which, tliougn designed a? a remedy for consump- ,

d certificate from three members of the Medical j
Profession in Germany, in Europe.
We, tiie undersigned, practitioners of medicine j
.a Germany, are well aware that, by our course,
we may forfeit the friendship of some of the facul
ty, but not of its benevolent members, who are un- j
imiucnced by selfish motives. Though vve shall l
refrain liom an expression of our opinion, either
oi the soundness or unsoundness of Dr. Goelick’s j
new doctrine we are happy to say' t hat ive deem *
ius Sanative too valuable not to De generally j
Gown —for what our eyes behold and our ears
tear, we must believe.
We hereby sta e, that when Dr. Louis Offen
Goelick first came before the German public, as
he pretended discoverer of a new doctrine and a
new medicine, we held him in the highest con
tanpt, believing and openly pronouncing him to be
ibase impostor . it the prince of quacks- But, on
hearing so much said about the Sanative, against it
nd for it, vve were induced, from motives of curi
n'. merely, to make trial of its reputed virtues
• Don a number of our most hopeless patients; and
ffe now deem it our bounden duty (e ven at the
“spense of self-interest, publicly to acknowledge
itseiiicacy in curing not only consumption, but
other fearful maladies, which vve ha ve heretofore
believed to be incurable. Our coi tempt for the
discoverer of this medicine was at once swallowed
up in our utter astonishment at these u ncxpected
results; and, as amends for our abuse of him, vve ;
do frankly confess to the world, that vv e believe j
him a philanthropist, who does honor to the proses- •
si* n, and to out countiy, which gave him birth.
The recent adoption of this medic-ne into some j
8 our European hospitals, is a sufficient guaranty .
that it performs all promises, it needed not our !

them for nearly a year, aud, did not delicacy forbid,
he could name several persons who have been radi

j affection, by the use of these Trusses, besides many
| others who are in a fairway of being entirely re

i mittcc ol the Philadelphia Medical society on the
Radical Cure of Hernia.
,! “ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected
the permanent and accurate retention of the iri
■ testines iu every case of Hernia observed by the
| committee, without material inconvenience to the
f patient, and often under trials more severe than
j are usually ventured upon by those who wearolher
i trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any
| other apparatus known to the committee.”
j “ The committee are induced by the foregoing
! conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in
struments of Dr. Chase to the co iiidence of
the profession, as the best known meins of me
chanical retention in hernia, and as lurnishingthe
highest chances of radical cure.”
The fol.owing is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Journal, published in .ur own city.
“ All mus. admit of the radical cure ol hernia,
and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best
! yet invented to effect the ouject.”
! Persons from a distance can have the instruments
