ABBEVILLE MINERAL SPRINGS.
n ; a This establishment is now in complete
Eninfn order for the reeption of visitors, and is
Jliijjjp!«y| extensively provided with every accom
modation and comfort whicli persons in search ol
health or recreation can desire. Mr. and Mrs.
Lawhow, who are charged with its superintend
anco, arc eminently qualified to give satisfaction,
and the Directors can promise that as good a table
and as clean and commodious rooms will be fur
nished, as are lo be had at any watering place in
the United States. These Springs are situated in
a healthy and romantic region in the north-western
corner of Abbeville District, near the Anacreon
line, and the place is as perfectly exempted from
autumnal fevers as any place in our Mountains.
The waters are confidently believed to be equal to
any in the United States, in all cases of chronic
disease of the liver and otherglands, and of chronic
inflammation in any part of the system— l -in cases
of dyspepsia and sick headache, they have been
singularly ellicacious, having invariably given re
lief whenever adequately tried. In these cases,
they may be almost considered a specific, as well
as in diseases of the skin and urinary organs. A
Hack will be regularly run during the season from
Abbeville C. House, which is 24 miles distant, to
carry passengers coming from that place in the
Stage. 13V THE DIRECTORS.
1 hereby certify, from personal observation, that
the water of the Abbeville Mineral Springs is sin
gularly serviceable in all cases of chronic inflam
mation and glandular obstructions. It docs not
appear to possess any highly stimulating or direct
tonic properties, but imparts tone lo the whole
system indirectly by its wonderful effect in weal
ing out inflammation, and in correcting secretions
of all the glands of the body. A few summers ago
I sent a patient to the Springs laboring under
chronic gastretis, which I found very difficult to
treat to advantage, and to my surprise the case was
speedily cured by the use of the water alone, sub
| sequently to the above case, I sent another patient
i to the Springs, who was reduced very low by
uterine obstruction and chiosic inflammation, with
a pulse up to about 120 beats in the minute, she
was soon entirely restored to health, by a jigh diet
and the use of the water, without any medicine
whatever. A. 13. ARNOLD, M. D.
Lowndesvillc, S. C., April 3d, 1841.
I hereby certify, from personal experience, that
I the Abbevil’e Mineral Springs waters are excellent
1 for Dyspepsia and Liver complaints—l was taken
there in the last stages of dyspepsia and liver com
plaint when given out of all hopes of living, both
by my relations and several physicians who had
attended me—l stayed at the Springs six or seven
weeks each year for three years, and now I am
aole to attend to the most of my domestic affairs.
I consider the Abbeville Mineral Springs preferable
to any of the East Tennessee Waters, fori had tiled j
them well previous to attending the above said
Springs.
Given under my hand, this 6th April, 1841.
