expciiencc to possess the important powei ol nn
mediately arresting the progress ot disease and re
storing the patient to perfect health, i lieretore,
those suffering from disease arising irom an im
pure state of the blood or habit of tire system, suea
as obstinate cutaneous eruptions, rheumatism,
chronic sore eyes, or diseases aiisiuglrom an in
judicious use of mercury, or i.npruderu ies in hie,
have only to use this preparation, which has all
combined that can be useful in tire removal of incur
complaints. Combined with the other advantages
which the preparation possesses, the proprietors
have reaped the experience of a scientific gentle
man who resided many years in that country
which produces the best, in fact the only true, spe
cks of Sarsaparilla. The proprietors, during the
many years they have been engaged in prep.-dag
it, have tried hundreds or experiments upon the
human system, and have had the pleasure ot wit
nessing its happy results in numerous instan, es ;
and they were determined not to ofl r it to the
world until they had become thoroughly convinc
ed of its efficacy. They hav- now succeeded in
preparing a medicine whoso restorative urine.- an
without a parallel in the history ol meur in.-,
which fact is fully sustained by the numerous cer
tificates and testimonials of cure ox the most dilli
cult kinds of disease.
The following cure, at once so remarkable, so
extraordinary as almost to surpass belie,, has in
order to place its truth beyond the reach of suspi
cion or doubt, been sworn to, this 2oth day ol Av
gust, 1842, before his Hon. Robt. H. Morris, May
or of the city of New York.
New Vojik, August 23, IS 12.
Gentlemen—A tale of misery and woe is mine
to tell, and as memory ever constant in the task
brings back scenes that have past, I shudder at the
i picture, anil almost wonder, i: it is so. For months
stretched upon a bed of suffering and disir. >3,
racked by the most excruciating pain, dumb with
agony—the only voice that came from my lips,
the. voice of groaning, and my only hope despair.
Often and often while others slept in the still h ens
of night, 1 have turned rny face to the wail and
wished lo die.
Although 1 stood on tiie brink of eternity, and
the thread of life was nearly severed, yet i still
breathed on. the lamp held out to burn ; 1 little
thought it would be ever trimmed again, and only
hoped that death would swallow up the frame. My
sickness was first brought on by my imprudently
exposing myself to a strong current of air while
overheated, which caused a sudden rh ek of per
spiration. My complaint at first seemed light and
hardly worth while to call a jdiysieiau ; but 1 soon
began to grow wor - •, and a physician was called,
who prescribed some pills containing a powerful
preparation of mercury, to bo followed by sarsapa
rilla mot and lignum vitro, made into a lea, whi h
1 continued using fur several months without in
termission. Soon after taking the nr rcury, ! be
gan to feel its poisonous iutiuen e. My whole
glandular system became afti-cted, :d;-o the bones,
joints and muscles ; lumps formed upon the skin,
nearly as big as an egg, accompanied with intense
bm niag heat, which kept swelling until they broke
and discharged matter and blood. These contin
ued to ineio ase until they covered my whole bo ly.
But this was only the beginning of my -.iliiciioos ;
now commenced those torturing pains term -d
chronic rheumatism. At times, it seemed as u i
was stretched upon a tack, and all my limbs w . re
being torn from each other ; at oile rs, as ifshtrp
knive.-; were pier- mg me at every point. The mus
cles of my legs set mod tied in knots, and wvie as
hard as a bone. My distress was now so great
that my groans at night disturbed t!i- w hole ho ; -e
and also some of the families in th. jay-ent bui.M
iags. 1 had not slept a night si • e the < aily pat
ot December hist; the only sleeji 1 obtained w.i i
few hours during the middle ofthe day, pillow -d
up iu a chair, and the eruption had also fearfully
increased. My face was completely coveiv-d w i;h
an extending sore. 1 had now shrunk to a m- re
skeleton—the skin and liesh were .so disease*.: a
round my thighs that the bon s nearly protruded,
and the physicians pronounced my case b. yond
the reach of medicine. Oh, how i ’wish J that 1
might die.—From my long and pro tract; a! ilia, ss
I had become, much reduced in circumstances. A
short time since, while looking in the papers, 1
chanced to see your Sarsaparilla advertised, ac
companied with a certificate from Mr. Burdock, of
a most extraordinary cure made by its use. The
case, iu some respects, resembled rny own, and I
found that lingering hope still clung to life. It
seemed like a whisper from heaven. The second
day after 1 commenced taking it, I felt the pain
much easier, and went to sleep. 1 had not slept
like this before for months. By the time i had lis
t'd one bottle, the pain had neari . left, the eruption
was also much better. 1 now felt a strange hone
gathering in my breast that 1 should live—perhaps
be cured. No, this could not he. 1 dared not be
lieve it. I sent and got another bottle, continuing
to improve rapidly, and still another, and I— l. a
few days since, a miserable, stiff ring man
was almost well. Two weeks from the’day I took
the first dose, I was out, and walked neatly throe
miles without even the assistance of a cane. And !
mnv, gentlemen—yes, now lam well—and have I
testified helore my God upon His sacred word
that all might believe this statement, for it is true' ■
true. Oh, how lamely these cold words describe 1
those fearful nights of agony, those dreadful' da vs !
ot suffering True;—yes, gentlemen, 1 herald it I
to the world that till may know what v ep tuvn a- 1
tion of Sarsaparilla has done for me. Mv Cart I
yearns towards those suffering and affii ted like * I
was, and I only hope this statement will'indu
others to pursue the same course for relief
Ever gratefully vuurs
