Montooukkv, Marcli 5, 9 I*. M.—The Southern
Bights Convention adjourned this evening, after a
session of two days. A series of resolutions con
taining the usual generalities were passed, the
sixteenth of which caused an animated and pro
tracted discussion.
The resolution was in substance as follows That
iu consideration of the fact that the people of Ala
bama ami the other Southern States had declared
against resistance to the Compromise Acts, conse
quently the Southern Wights party would not press
the issue, but guard against the future.
1 his was earnestly opposed as I>eing tantamount
to a dissolution of the Southern Rights party, and
an adoption of the Georgia platform, It was sup
ported by Messrs. Buford, Yancey, Elmore, and
others. II ti mutely, however, a substitute was ac
cepted which modified the language iu some re
spects, although it was considered to amount prac
tically to the same thing.
A resolution against the doctrine of Intervention

MEXICAN MUSTANG LINIMENT.
To the Hall, Hie I .nine, the *ore, and the Stiff Jointed :
“ WE BRING GLAD TIDINGS OF GREAT JOY !”
IMI!* LINIMENT is one of the most perfect remedies ever offered to the afflicted. Its action upon the organization i
truly wonderful. Its volatile, penetrating, soothing and healing properties diffuse themselves to the very bones. 1
enters into the circulation of the blood—gives a new impulse to the whole nervous system to the very extremities of tin

and excruciating. He had heard of the wonderful effects of the Mustang Liniment in Rheumatism, and determined to
try it. One small bottle, thoroughly applied, performed a perfect cure! B. 11. Meakings, IS9 Walnut-street, Cincinnati,

the influence of opium or morphine. His doctor finally advised him to try the Mustang Liniment; he did so, and in two
days was able to go about his business, perfectly cured.
SALT RHEUM.
Mrs. Anna M. Pierce, wife of John Pierce, Plumber, on Market-street, had been afflicted for many years with this trou
blesome .mil obstinate affection. The disease was confined, principally, to her hands, which would become very much in
flamed and swollen, producing almost intolerable itching and burning. After a few days, this erysipelatous irritation would
subside, when the skin would peel off and dry in scales, and at every joint

consequence of this drying and contracting of the muscles, the hands were nearly closed, aud the ends of the lingers drawn

COSBY’S ANTI-DYSPEPTIC BITTERS.
I> I Hll VI *8 there is nothing more calculated to disgust
the public eye than the innumerable advertisements o
the nostrums that are constantly appearing in the' public
prints. All are ready to exclaim, Our souls are sick, our
ears are pained with every days leports of ids and speci
fics. This state of the public mind would seem to forbid any
person ot delicate mind from sending forth anj new dis
coveries in medicine to the trial of the public: still motives
-of delicacy should nol prevent us from making known real
discoveries, w hich we arc confident will benefit our fellow
men. This latter consideration has prompted the author of
these Bitters to make them known. He knows they are
highly efficacious, for he himst If, his w ife, and man.', friends
hat egi ven them a thorough trial. He was, for many years,
a confirmed dyspeptic—so much so that even his recollec
tion was gone, but by the use of these Bitters he has been
restored to perfect health. This has been (he case with
many of Ins friends. The proprietor, in sending forth this
advertisement? addresses those who know him. He has
been, for many years, a resident of Augusta, but at this
time of Hamburg, S. C., at which place he can, at any time,
be consulted about the Bitters. They are good in all cases
of diseases of the digestive organs, tlie symptoms of which
are, indigestion, pain or oppression in the stomach from
food, loss of appetite, flatulency, heart-burn, giddiness in
the head, pain in tee side, shortness of breath, lassitude,
general weakness, disturbed sleep, Ac. The composition is
entirely Botanical, and has proved efficacious, where many
celebrated medicines had failed; in support of which he
could give reference to a number of persons, who have
made a trial of it, but deems it unnecessary, as lie is willing
to place it on its ow n merits. All he asks is for those who
are afflicted with dyspepsia to give it a trial.
The above Bitters can be had at (). COSBY’S Hamburg,
S. C’., and at Dr. WM. H. TUTT’S Drugstore, Broad street,
Augusta. fe29

CONSUMPTION CAN BE CURED.
Dll. II ASTI ATI’S COM POUND SYRUP OF
NAFHTHA. —The wonder and doubt felt by the Medical
Faculty when Dr, Hasting proclaimed the curability of Pul
monary Consumption, by the use of Naphtha as a remedial
agent, lias now, after eight years of trial, settled down into
a deep conviction that there are few or no casts in w hich
Consumption cannot he cured by
DR. HASTING’S COMPOUND SYRUP OF NAPHTHA.
In every casein which it has been tried in Ragland or the
United States, it has been followed by immediate relief and
ultimate cure. In the Blenheim Free Dispensary, under
the charge of Dr. Hastings, during five years that the
Naphtha lias been in use, there has not been a single death
from disease of the Lungs, while previously patients had
died almost every week. In incipient stages of Consump
tion the effect of the Naphtha Syrup is almost miraculous,
and a cure effected in an incredibly short space of time. In
the more advanced stages, and even in the third or last
dreadful division of this hitherto incurable disease, its ef
fect is equally wonderful.. This period is marked by the
expectoration of the tubercles in cheese-like particles,
mixed w ith pus, mucous, blood, Ac., and most generally ac
companied with diarrhea. On administering the Naphtha
Syrup, the formation of the tubercles is almost instantly ar
rested, the foreign matter thrown off, the tubercles already
formed are destroyed, and the breathing immediately l>e
comes easier, and the patient, on the third night after first
taking the Syrup, is often able to enjoy a quiet night’s rest
—a thing unknown for weeks previously.
THE TRIAL OF A SINGLE*BOTTLE
is all that is asked by the Proprietor to prove this medicine
to be all that lias been stated.
BRONCHITIS.
Bronchitis has in this remedy a sure and speedy cure,
and is acknowledged by all the medical faculty to be with;
out a rival in the speedy cure of Bronchitis, botli acute and
chronic.
COUGHS, COLD AND CATARRHS
yield to the influence of the Naphtha Syrup, often in the
short space of forty-eight, hours.
NIGHT SWEATS.
This distressing and weakening accompaniment to Con
sumption and *ther diseases, is instantly stopped by the use
of the Naphtha Syrup.
SPITTING OF BLOOD.
The most severe attacks of Spitting of Blood have inva
riably been stopped within the short space of thirty mi
nutes, and all disposition to recurrence of the same pre
vented. In conclusion, the Proprietor warrants the Naph
tha Syrup, to be not only the best but the only certain cure
for Pulmonary Consumption, and all other diseases of the
Lungs.
