The object of the author is to represent the condition of

slave, the mistaken impulses and misconceived views of
the Northern Philantropist, &c., and to represent the pas

are displayed in the humblest lot in human society, thus
showing that, in the case of the slave at least, contentment
bestows more happiness than freedom; and at the same
time to represent, as it is, a class of people, viz: the Plant

- IMPROVEMENT IK SETTING MINERAL TEETH,
s rjMIE undersigned would respectfully call the attention
JL of the public to the following important improvement
; in setting Mineral Teeth.
; Having purchased, at a heavy expense, the exclusive
s right to use Alen* improvement in the county of Richmond,
; begs leave to cad attention to its superiority' over all other
s methods now in use.
First —That they are of greater strength.
; Second —The Teeth and Gums are fused to the plate, ma
king it a single piece, and thereby rendering it impossible
’ for the lodgement of food, which cannot be prevented by'
; the ordinary modes; and also, the perfectly life-like ap
f pearance caused by the continuous Gums, and
Fourthly—by a better fit of the plate, and consequently
greater use in mastication.
Dr. Munson being now on a tour through the Northern
States, will visit the principal cities and procure all the
> late improvements, as he is determined not to be surpassed
> either in workmanship or durability.
The public are invited to call and examine specimens
9 now at his office, feeling assured that a simple inspection
will convince any one of its importance and utility.

PATENT MEDICINES, j
THE GREATEST CtSiGH REMEDY j
EVER DISCOVERED.
I yVAf PULMONIC UAL
AMI D CHERK\ AND 'WOOD NAPTHA
1 tor the complete cure of Coughs, Colds, Inllm-nza Asthma !
Bronchitis, Spitting of Blood, and all other Luna Comnlflints
tending to Consumption. g Complaints
I ... READ! READ!!
1 This justly celebrated preparation is recommended by :
1 some tbe most learned and intelligent Physicians in the I
! coun try, and will be found superior to any remedy for the
mire of all diseases of the respiratory organs . All persons
j who have used it lor Asthma, Cough, Spitting of Blood,
VV hooping Cough, Croup, or Hives, Consumption, Pain,
Soreness of the Breast, Difiicultyof breathing, and every
oHier disease of tin; Breast and Lungs, attest its superior |
! efficacy in the most unqualified terms.
In Pneumonia, a disease which is generally very dan- !
gerous and fatal, it is confidently believed to be the safest
and most effective remedy that can be employed. It lias 1
been known to cure in a short time some of the most dan- (
gerous cases of Pneumonia, after it had baliled every other
remedy.
Bronchitis, a disease which is annually sweeping thou- I
sands to a premature grave under the mistaken name of 1
Consumption, is promptly relieved and cured by it. The •
usual symptoms of this disease (Bronchitis.) are Cough
j Difficulty of Breath.ng, Hoarseness, Soreness of the Throe t
: or Lungs, Asthma, Hectic Fever, accompanied with Bpit- j
1 ting of Phlegm, or matter, and sometimes Blood. It is an !
intlamation of the membrane which lines the inside of the
whole of the wind t übes or air vessels which run through I
livery part of the Lungs. This Pulmonic Balsam immedi
ately suppresses the Cough and Pain, subdues the Imfi, -
mation and Fever, removes the difficulty of breathing, by
producing a free and easy Expectoration, so that a cure is
soon effected. It always cures in Asthma. Two or three
doses will cure the Croup or Hives of children in a few
minutes, and it is rem arkable how prompt it is in subduing
the violence of Whooping Cough, and effecting a speedy
cure, and many who have been given up by their Physi
cians as incurable in Consumption, have been restored to •
perfec t health by it. In fact, as a remedy in Pulmonary
Diseases, no medicine has ever obtained a higher cr more
deserved reputation, in the short time it has'beeu before i
the public.
This-Pulmonic Balsam, if given in the comir enccmenf of j
Pleurisy, Pneumonia, or in acute Rheumatism, in doses |
large enough to produce a little nausea for some time, (go- I
ing to bed and covering up warm,) v, ill produce a free per
spiration, which, if continued for two or three hours, will
subdue those diseases at once.
Bee Directions, also Dr. Williams’Medical Pamph- j
lets and Circular, with certificates from gentlemen of the
first standing.
It is our purpose to circulate these pamphlets aud circu
lars extensively; but should any one be overlooked they
are earnestly desired to call upon the Agents named below,
and procure one gratis. It will repay perusal and intro
duce you to a mass of testimony in favor of the prepara
tion which is perfectly irresistable. Fuch being our confi
dence in its virtues, we are willing to warrant the Medi
cine in every recent case, (if used according to the direc
tions,) and where the person is not satisfied that he is de
riving benefit from it by returning the bottle, within 24
hours lime, hie Money will be refunded.

AYER’S CHERRY PECTORAL,
17*011 TIIC CTRL of Coughs, Colds, Hoarseness, Bron
-1 chitis, Whooping-Cough, Croup, Asthma, and Con
sumption,
Os all the nnmerous medicines extant, (and someof them
valuable) for the cure of pulmonary complaints, nothing
has ever been found which could compare in its effects
with this Preparation. Others cure sometimes, but at nil
times and in all diseases of the Lungs and Throat where
medicine can give relief, this will do it. It is pleasant to
take, and perfectly safe in accordance with the directions.
We do not advertise for the information of those who have
tried it, but those who have not. Families that have known
its value will not be without it, and by its timely use, tiioy
are secure from the dangerous consequences of Coughs
and Colds which neglected, ripen into fatal consumption.
The Diploma of the Massachusetts Institute was award
ed to this preparation by the Board of Judges in Septem
ber, 1847 ; also, the Medals of the three great Institutes of
Art, in this country; also, the Diploma of the Ohio Insti
tude at Cincinnati, has been given to the CHERRY PEC
TORAL, by their Government in consideration of its extra
ordinary excellence and usefulness in curing affections of
the Lungs and Throat.
Read tbe following opinion founded on the long experi
ence of the eminent Physician of the Port and City of
Sr. Johns, May 8,1851.
Dr. J. C. Ayer,—Five years trial of your CHERRY PEC
TORAL in my practice, has proven what I foresaw from
its composition, must be true, that it eradicates and cures
the colds and coughs to which we, in this section, are pecu
liarly liable.
I think its equal has not yet been discovered, nor do I
know how- a better remedy can be made for the distempers
of the Throat and Lungs. J. J. Burton, m. d., f. r. s.
See what it has done on a wasted constitution, not only
in the following cases, but a thousand more:
Sudbury, Jan. 24th, 1851.
Dr. Ayer ; In the month of July last I was attacked by a
violent diarrhoea in the mines of California. I returned to
San Francisco in hope of receiving benefit from a change
of climate and diet. My diarrhoea ceased, but was follow
ed by a severe cough—and much soreness. I finally start
ed for home, but received no benefit from the voyage. My
cough continued to grow worse, and when I arrived in New
York, I was at once marked by my acquaintances as a vic
tim of consumption. I must confess that I saw no sufficient
reason to doubt what ray friends all believed. At this time
I commenced taking your truly invaluable medicine with
little expectation of deriving any benefit from its use. You
would not receive these lines did I not regard it my duty to
state to the afflicted, through yon, that my health, in tin,
sqace of eight months, is full}’restored. I attribute it to
the use of your CHERRY PECTORAL.
Yours, truly, William W. Smith.
Washington, Pa., April 12,1848.
Dear Sir : Feeling that I have been spared from a pre
mature grave, through your instrumentality by the provi
dence of God, 1 will take the liberty to express to you my
gratitude.
A Cough, and the alarming symptoms cf Consumption
had reduced me too low to leave me anything like a hope,
when my physician brought me a bottle of your “ Pecto
ral,” It seemed to afford immediate relief, and now in a
few weeks time has restored me to sound health.
If it will do for others what it has for me, you are cer
tainly one of the benefactors of mankind.
Sincerely wishing you every blessing, I am, very respect
fully, yours, John J. Clarke,
Rector of St. Peter’s Church.
With such assurance and from such men, no stronger
proof can be adduced unless it be from its effects upon trial.

COSBY S ANTI-DYSPEPTIC BITTERS.
FiRHAPS there is nothing more calculated to disgust
the public eye than the innumerable advertisements of
the nostrums that are constantly appearing in the public
prints. All are ready to exclaim, Our souls are sick, our
ears are pained with every days reports of ills and speci
fics. This state of the public mind would seem to forbid any
person of delicate mind from sending forth any new dis
coveries in medicine to the trial of the public: still motives
of delicacy should not prevent us from making knowm real
discoveries, which we are confident will benefit our lellow
men. This latter consideration has prompted the author cf
these Bitters to make them known. He knows they are
highly efficacious, for he himself, his wife, and many friends
have given them a thorough trial. He was, for many years,
a confirmed dyspeptic—so much so that even his recollec
tion was gone, but by the use of these Bitters he ha? been
restored to perfect health. This has been the case with
many of his friends. The proprietor, in sending forth this
advertisement, addresses those who know him. He has
been, for many years, a resident of Augusta, but at this
time of Hamburg, 8. C., at which place he can, at any time,
be consulted about the Bitters. They are good in all cases
of diseases of the digestive organs, the symp;omsof which
are, indigestion, pain or oppression in the Bunnaoh from
food, loss of appetite, flatulency, hpart-burn, giddiness in
the head, pain in the side, shortness of breath, lassitude,
general weakness, disturbed sleep, <tc. The composition is
entirely Botanical, and has proved efficacious, where many
celebrated medicines had failed; in support of which he
could give reference to a number of persons, who have
made a trial of it, but deems it unnecessary, as he is willing
to place it on its own merits. All he asks is for those who
are afflicted w ith dyspepsia to give it a trial.
The above Bitters can be had at 0. COFBY’3 Hamburg.

The public will please bear in mind that this is a purely
Southern preparation, and is entitled to the patronage of

rpt'A'T'S PIN TOItA L HLIXIK is one of the moat
1 certain and roost pleasant .Remedies ever offered to the
Public. Its sooth ing, healing and strengthening virtues dif
fuse themselves so generally throughout the human Lungs,
tiiat it is iraposait ie for Pneumonia, Croup, Bronchitis, Pleu
risy, Asthma, Whooping Cough, Hoarseness, Difficult
Breathing, Pain in the Side, or Consumption, to withstand
its power. Its effects upon the Depuratory Organs are so
prompt that Nature is enabled to throw off all unhealthy or
impure agencies that tend to disease the delicate substance
of the Lungs.
From the hundreds of cures that are almost daily report
ed, it would be impossible for the most incredulous to doubt
for a moment. Many who have suffered for years with dis
eases of the Respiratory Organs have been cured by it, and
are sounding its praises abroad.
The PECTORAL ELIXIR is prepared from vegetable sub
stances alone, and its use for years would tend to strength
en the system, and not like most other Medicines, weaken
it. It is now being used by some of the most eminent I hy
-1 sicians in the country, and by many is considered an infaHi
ble remedy in CROC P.
Parents who have youn . dhSdren. should keep a bottle a
