“UNCLE TOM’S CABIN” AS IT IS—being Narratives,
Scenes and Incidents in the Real “ Life of the Lowly’
by W. L. G. Smith, Esq.
The object of the author is to represent the condition of
the slave in his rude but comfortable Cabin, his daily occu
pations and pastimes, the relations between master and
slave, the mistaken impulses and misconceived views of
the Northern Philantropist, Ac., and to represent ibe pas
•ions and sentiments in their natural forms, as the same
are displayed in the humblest lot in human society, thus
showing that, in the case of the slave at least, contentment
bestows more happiness than freedom; and at the same
time to represent, as it is, a class of people, viz: the Plant
er, to whom justice has seldom been done, and whose cha
racter, as exhibited in every day life, is well calculated to
win the amiable judgment of the world, For sale by

SEWING MACHINE.
i ANGER'S Patent Straight Needle Perpendicular Action
,S SEWING MACHINE. Patented August 12th, 1851.
Improvements, which render this machine a perfect instru
ment, patented April 18th, 1852. To this invention, be
fore the great improvements were applied, the first premi
ums were awarded at the last New York State Fair, and lair
of the American Institute. As now improved, these ma
chines are infinitely ahead of competition, and the inven
tion is unquestionably the most valuable one now before
the public, not excepting the Planing Machine, Cod’s P s
tols, or any other. All kinds of Sewing, on either cloth or
leather, done by these machines in most beautiful style, so
it cannot rip or ravel, and with immense saving of labor.
The great shoe manufacturers at Lynn, and other places,
use these machines. The extensive saddlery establishments
of Newark, N. J., and Bridgeport, Ct., use them; and the
manufacturers of clothing and working tailors in many
parts of the country have introduced and are employing
them with perfect success. No Sewing Machine previous to
this was of anv practical value, or stood the test of actual
use; and no machine for stitching can ever be made that
will be useful, without infringing on 1. M. Singer's Pat.nts.
The public are cautioned not to buy other machines con
taining I. M. Singer’s Improvements, as all infringers will
be promptly and vigorously prosecuted. Price of Machines,
with all apparatus complete for immediate use, including the
right to use under the patents, $125. Orders sent by mail,
or through either of the express lines, immediately execu
ted. Country merchants coming to New' \ork always fur
nish a convenient medium for the purchase of Machines.
Town, County or State Rights for the EXCLUSIVE USE of
these Machines, for sale on most favorable terms. Ma
chine Needles, also a splendid article of silk twist on spools,
made expressly for these Machines, for sale at all our offi
ces. Black |7; Colored, $7.50 per pound. Principal offices

in setting Mineral 1 eeth.
Having purchased, at a heavy expense, the exclusive

methods now in use.
First—That .hey arc of greater strength.
Second —The Teeth and Gums are fused to the plate, ma
king it a single piece, and thereby rendering it impossible
for the lodgement of food, which cannot be prevented by
the ordinary mode"; and also, the perfectly life-like ap
pearance caused by the continuous Gums, and
Fourthly'—by a oetter fit of the plate, and consequently
greater use in mastication.

In Pneumonia, a disease which is generally very dan
