Henrt Clay's Fcnkkal Expenses. —A resolution
w-as adopted on Monday evening, in the Board of
Aldermen of New York, appropriating *7,800. ad
ditional to defray expenses incurred by the c? ru
ral tteo who managed the obsequies of the late
Henry Clay, in that city. This makes $15,000 ap
propriated for the same nnrpose.
Finances of Virginia.—Robert Johnston, Esq.,
Auditor of Virginia, has made a rej>ort the con

that during the year ending the Ist inst.,

making with a balance of $8<>,474.02 on hand at

Ear grants for Liberia. —Wo learn with pleasure
that our American Colinization Society, who were
intending t > send 175 emigrants to Liberia in a ves
sel which was to sail from Norfolk on the 4th inst.,
have found thatthe number of these people ready
and anxious to embark is suddenly swelled up to
no less than 480 ; some of them from North Caro
lina, and some from South Carolina—but the larg
est part from our own State; 125 from about Nor
folk, and 60 or 7(i from other places. In this state
of things, the society—w Vl o have actually promised
passages to as many as 850— are now preparing to
send out two vessels, one from Norfolk, on or about
