Opposition to High FreigU Tariffs!
Offjck of thl Fashion Lisa, i
Augusta, April 15, 1564. J
Tlifci subscriber would respectfully calf the attention f
the Merchants throughout Georgia, Tennessee, Ala
bama and South Carolina, to the Savannah River, as a
safe, expeditious and cheap route for the transportationof
their Merchandise.
By comparing the freight tariff's of this line with thoseif
th b .uth Carolina, and Central, and Waynesboro’ Rad
io vis, it will show a result in favor c. this route of from 80
to 50 per cent., generally, and in some instances a greater
.
Cy this route a merchant receives each shipment of Lis
Goods together; they are not retailed to him as they gei
erallj arc by Railroads connecting with the seaboard, with
a list of charges attached *o each package.
in addition to the present force of this line, another new j
Boat, of light draught of water, will be added during the I
coming summer. Jhese boats will leave Savannah after !
the discharge of the New York and Philadelphia Steam- j
ships, twice t r three times a week, delivering those Gooo’s
atth s point in FIVE DAYS.
i'rein the present low tariff of this line a deduction of
12# percent, wi'lbe allowed on all bills from this date.
Give the river more business, and a cheaper freight yet
awaitsyou.
All voociifr ,m the seaboard should be directed to

To the manufacturing portion of Georgia, as well as the
