FREE TRADE AND NO DUOPOLY Opposition to High Freigh Tariffs! Ornos of thk Fashio* Lisz. 1 Augusta, April 15, 1554. j THli subscriber would respectfully call the attention f the Merchants throughout Georgia, 'Tennessee, Ala bama and South Carolina, to the Savannah River, as a sale, expeditious and cheap route for the transportationof their Merchandise. By comparing the freight tariffs of this line with thoserf the south Carolina, and Central, and Waynesboro’ Rail road.!, it will show a result in favor of this route of from SO to 60 per Cent., generally, and in some instances a greater per centage. Ly this route a merchant receives each shipment of his Goods together; they are not retailed to him as they gen erally are by Railroads connecting with the seaboaid, with a Ust of charges attached to each package. la addition to the present force of this line, another new Boat, of light draught of water, will be added during the eomiug summer. These boats wilt leave Savannah after the Uueharge of the New York and Philadelphia Stvam ahipn, twice or thrt s times a week, delivering those Goods at this point in FIVE DAYS. From the present low tariff of this line a deduction of 12X percent, wi i be allowed on nil bills from tins uate. [ (Jive the river more business, and a cheaper-freight yet awaitsyou. Aligoodafrom the seaboard should be directed to M. A. COHEN, Savannah, and produce Pom the interior to JNO. A. MOORE, Augusta. To the manufacturing portion of Georgia, a., well as the Cotton Merchants, and dealers generally, on the line of Railroads through Georgia and Tennessee, who ship to Savannah and Northern markets, this route offers very favorable inducements, Tofacilitate shipments, as well as to prevent errors, hills of landing should be forwarded to ..A. Cohen, at Savan nah, for all goods fromseubord. JNO. A MOORE.
