Hcg*, Pricks, Aic.—We are not far wrong when
we state that there are not half the number of hogs
in this and adjacent counties that there were one
>ear ago. We hear of one gentleman who, a short
time since, turned a drove of some hundreds into a
t orufieki to fatten, and upon visiting the field two
weeks afterward, could only find some teu or a
dozen live hogs out of the three hundred—all had
died of hog cholera. As to the price that will
govern the hog market, we are as yet unable to
give definite and reliable information. We know
of one gentleman who has given $ 1.23 per hundred,
gross. Auother lot was recently purchased in Mid
dle Tennessee at $ 1 per hundred, gross. These are
the only lots that we have known purchased.—

was consider able enquiry yesterday on t e market for
the finer grades of cotton, ot which there is at present a

GUANO,
From the South Pacific Ocean,
IMPORTED BY THE
AMERICAN GUANO COMPANY, N. Y.
Guano, far superior to any other Fertilizer
1 known, and of PERMANENT VALUE to the soil
is sold at THIRTY PER CENT less than Peruvian
Guano. Its peculiar natural combination of the Phos
phates and Sulphates of Lime, enables it to restore to
the soil the properties lost by constant cropping, and the
Planter will be enabled not merely to reap from Its use
a present crop, but find his land at the end of the season,
bea.thierand stronger, requiring alesß amount of Guano
far tbe next planting.
This Guano feeds, but does not stimulate to excess,
the roots of plants, and they are thereby enabled to
withstand tbe * fleets of drouth to a greater degree than
by the use of any other fertilizer known. The universal
objection to the use of Peruvian Guano, from its fatal
results during & dry season, Is obviated by the use of the
American Guano.
The application of this Guano, 75 to 100 pounds per
acre, will ensure wonderful crops of Cotton, Corn,
Wheat. Rye, Tobacco, Vegetables, Ac.
For full information and reports of succi ssful experi
