HELMBOLD’S BUCHU for Excesses arising from Indiscre

These symptoms, in part, are experienced often by sufferers
with diseases of the Bladder, Kidneys, Gravel and Dropsy, and
Invariably by the injudicious or nervous and debilitated. It is a
fact, long since established, that any disease of these organs
affects the mind more than any and all others, and if allowed to
go on which this medicine invariably removes —soon follows
Loss of Power, Fatuity and Epileptic Fits —in one of which the
Ratient may expire. Who can say that these excesses are not
•equently followed by these direful diseases. Insanity and Con
sumption ? The record cf the insane Asylums and the melan
choly deaths by Consumption, bear ample witness to the truth
of these assertions. In Lunatic Asylums the most melancholy
exhibition appears. The countenance is actually sullen and
quite destitute—neither mirth nor grief ever visits it. Should a
sound of the voice occur. It is rarely articulate.
“ With woeful measures, wan Despair,
Low. sullen sounds, Lus grief beguiled.”
Debility is most terrible, and has brought thousands upon
thousands to untimely graves ; thus blasting the ambition of
many noble youths. It can be cured by the use of this infallible
remedy. , . .
The mass of voluntary testimony in possession of the proprie
tor, vouching for its virtues and its curative powers, is immense,
embracing names well known to science and fame. Certificates
of cures, from one month to twenty years’ standing, and of the
most, reliable and respectable character, are open for inspection
from Governors of States, Judges, eminent Physicians, ad dis
tinguished Clergymen.
HELMBOLD’S EXTRACT BUCHU is prepared directly
according to the rules of Pharmacy and Chemistry, with the
greatest accuracy and chemical knowledge and care devoted in
its combination. Sec Prof. Dewees’ valuable works on the
Practice of Physic, and most of the late Standard Works of

TraySARSAPARILLA.
Af lOMPOIJND remedy in which we have labored to pro
duce the. most effectual alterative that can be made. It is
a concentrated extract of Para Sarsaparilla, so combined with
other substances of still greater alterative poweras t* afford an
effective antidote for tae disease Sarsaparilla is reputed to
cu.e. It is believed that such a remedy is wanted by those
who suffer from Strumous complaints, and tt at one which will
accomplish their cure must or ve of immense service to tills
large class of our afflicted fellow-citizens. How completely tills
compound will do it lias been proven by experiment on many
of the worst cases to be found of the following complaints :
Scrofula and Scrofulous Complaints, Eruptions and Eruptive
Diseases, Ulcers. Pimples. Blotches, Tumors, Salt Rheum,
Scald Head, Syphilis and Syphilitic Affections, Mercurial Die
ca.-e. Dropsy, Neuralgia or 1 ic Douloureux, Debility, Dyspap
sia and Indigestion, Erysipelas, Rose or St. Anthony's Fire,
and indeed the whole class of complaints arising from Impurity
ofthe Blood.
This compound will be found a great promoter of health,
when taken In the spring, to expel tire foul humors which tee
ter in the Mood at this season of the year. By the timely ex
pulsion of them many rankling disorders are nipped in the bud.
Multitudes cant by tlie aid of tills remedy, spare themselves
from the endurance of foul eruptions and ulcerous sores,
through which the system will strive to rid itself of corruptions,
If not assisted to do this through tlie natural channels ofthe
body by an alterative medicine. Cleanse out the vitiated blood
whenever you find its impurities bursting through the skin in
pimples, eruptions or sores ; cleanse it when you find it is oh
structed and sluggish in the veins ; cleanse it whenever it iB
foul, and your feelings will tell you when. Even where no
particular disorder is felt, people enjoy better health, and live
longer tor cleansing the blood. Kei ,> tlie lood healthy, and all
is well; tut with this pabulum of life disordered, there can he
no lasting health. Sooner or ‘ater something must go wrong,
and the great machinery of life isdisordered or overthrown.
Sarsaparilla hast, and deserves much, the reputation of accom
plishing these ends. But the world has been egregriously de
ceived by preparations of it, part ‘v because the drug alone has
not ail the virtue that is claimed for it, but more because many
preparations, pretending to be concentrated extracts ot it, con
tain but little of the virtue of Sarsaparilla, or any thing else.
During late years the public have been misled by large bot
tles, pretending to give a quart of Extra-1 of Sarsaparilla tor
one dollar. Most of these have been frauds upon the sick, lor
they not only contain little, if any. Sarsaparilla but often no
curative properties whatever. Hence, bitter and painful disap
pointment has followed the use of the various extracts of Sar
saparilla which flood the market, until the name Itself is Justly
despised, and lias become synonymous with imposition and
eheat. Still we call this compound Sarsaparilla, and intend to
supply such a remedy as shall rescue the name from the load of
obloquy which rests upon it. Aad we think we have ground
for believing it hag virtues w leh are irresistible by the ordinary
run of the diseases it is intended to cure. In order to secure
their complete < radlcatlon from the system, the remedy rhould
be judiciously taken according to directions on the bottle.

Prof. Wood: Thee wilt please accept a line lo inform thee
that the hair on my head all fell off over twenty years ago,
caused by a complicated chronic disease, attended with an erup

having reduced me to a state of dependence. I have Hot been

fully followed the directions and the bald spot is now covered

Liooktze, Noble Cos., Indiana, Feb. 6th. 1869,
Prof. O. J. Wood—Dear Sir: In the latter part of the yeAr
1862, while attending the State and National Law School ortho
State of New York, my hair, from a cause uuknown to me, com
menced falling off very rapidly, so that in the short space of six
months, the whole upper part of my scalp was almost entirely
bereft of It s covering, and much of the remaining portion upon
the side and back part of my head shortly after became grey, so
that you will not be surprised when I tell you that upon my re
turn to the State of Indiana, my more casual acquaintances
were not so much at a loss to discover the cause of the change in
my appearance, as my more Intimate acquaintances were to re
cognise me at all.
I at once made application to the most skilful physicians !n
the country, but receiving no assurances from them that my hair
could agatn be restored, I was forced to become reconciled to
my fate, until, fortunately, in the latter part of the year 1867,
your Restorative was recommended to me by a druapst, as ba
mg the most reliable Hair Restorative in use. I triefl one bottle,
and found to my great satisfaction that it was producing the de
sired effect. Since that time, I have used seven dollars’ worth
of your Restorative, and as a result, have a rich eoatoi very soft
black hair which no money can buy.
Asa mark of my gratitude for your labor and skill la tilt pro

The INPEOTINE, or PERSIAN FEVER CHARM, Is the
only compound that can be said to be the natural antidote to
those bilious fevers which, In various forms afflict the human

pronounced to eradicate the Fever and Ague particularly, only

most distressing results In this great Persian Specific we have

The Amalgamation of Languages. —There is a
growing tendency in this age to appropriate the
most expressive words of other languages, and
after a while to incorporate them into our own ;
thus the word Cephalic, which is from the Greek,
signifying “ for the head,” is now becoming popu
larized in connection with Mr. Spalding’s great
Headache remedy, but it will soon be used in a
more general way, and the word Cephalic will be
come as common as Electrotype and many others
whose distinction as foreign words has been worn
away by common usage until they seem “ native
and to the manor born.”
’ardly Realized.
Hi ’ad ’n ’orrible ‘eadachethis haftarßoea, hand
hi stepped into the bapothecariea hand says hi to
the man, “Can you hease me of an'eadache t”
“ Does it hache ’ard f 1 ’ says ’e. “ Haxeeedmgly,”
says hi, hand upon that ’ gave me a Cephalic Pill,
hand ’pon me ’onor it cured me so quick that hi
’ardly realized hi ’ad ’ad an ’eadache.
ff3gT Headache is the favorite sign by which
nature makes known any deviation whatever from
the natural state of the brain, and viewed in this
light it may be looked on as a safeguard intended
to give notice of disease which might otherwise
escape attention, till too late to be remedied ; and
its indications should never be neglected. Head
aches may be classified uader two names, viz :
Symptomatic and Idiopathie. Symptomatic Head
ache is exceedingly common apd is the precursor
of a great variety of diseases, among which are
Apoplexy, Gout, Rheumatism and all febrile dis
eases. In its nervous form it is sympathetic of
disease of the stomach constituting sick headache,
of hepatic disease constituting bilious headache , of
worms, constipation and other disorders of the
bowels, as well as renal and uterine affections.
Diseases of the heart are very frequently attended
with Headaches; Anaemia and plethora are also
affections which frequently occasion Headache.
Idiopathic Headache is a'so very common, being
also usually distinguished by the name of nervous
headache, sometimes coming on suddenly in a state
of apparently sound health and prostrating at
onee the mental and physical energies, and in
ether instances it comes oa slowly, noralded by
depression of spirits and ascerbity of temper. In
mo9t instances the pain is in the front of the head,
over one or both eyes, and sometimes provoking
vomiting; under this class may also be named
Neuralgia.
For the treatment of either class of Headache
the Cephalic Pills have been found a sure and safe
remedy, relieving the most acute pains in a few
minutes, and bv its subtle power eradicating the
disease of which Headache is the unerring index.
Bridget.— Missus wants you to send her a box
of Cephalic Glue—no, n bottle of Prepared Pills ;
but I'm thinking that’s not just it naither; hut
perhaps ye’ll be afther knowing what it is. Te
see she’s nigh dead and gone with the Headache,
and wants some more of that same as relaived bet
before.
Druggist. —You must mean Spalding’s Cephalic
Pills.
Bridget. —Och ! sure now and you’ve sed it;
here’s the quarther and give mo the Pills and don't
be all day about it aither.
Constipation or Costiveness.
No one of the “ many ills that flesh is heir to”
is so prevalent, so little understood, and so much
neglected as Costiveness. Often originating in
carelessness or sedentary habits, it is regarded as
a slight disorder of too Tittle consequence to ex
cite anxiety, while in reality it is the precursor
and companion of many of the most fata! and dan
gerous diseases, and unless early eradicated it
will bring the sufferer te an untimely grave.
Among the lighter evils es which Coativenesa ia
the usual attendant, are Headaehe, Colic, Rheuma
tism, Foul Breath, Piles, aad other* ot like na
ture, while a long train of frightful disease* such
as Malignant Fevers, Abscesses, Dysentery, Diarr
hea, Dyspepsia, Apoplexy, Epilepsy, Paralysis,
Hysteria, Hypochondriasis, Melancholy and In
sanity, first hidicate their presence in the system
by this alarming symptom. Not unfrequeutly the
diseases named originate ia Constipation, but take
an independent existence unless the cause ia
eradicated in an early stage. From all these con
Biderations it follows that the disorder should re
eeive immediate attention whenever it oecwrs,
and no person should neglect to get a box of Ce
phalic Pills on the first appearanee of the com
plaint, as their timely use will expel the insidious
approaches of disease and destroy this dangerous
foe to human life.
A Real Blessing.
Physioitm. —Well, Mrs. Jones, how is that
Headache ?
Mrs. Jones. —Gone! Doctor; all gce. The pill
you sent cured me in just twenty minutes, and I
wish you would send more, so that I etn have
them handy.
Physician. —You etn get them at any Druggists.
Call for Cephalic Pills, I find they never fan, and
I recommend them in nil cases of Headache.
Mrs. Jones. —l shall send for a box direttly, and
shall tell all my suffering friends, for they are a
real bleating.
Twbxtt MiLLiaxa or #llaiw Satis.—Mr.
Spalding has sold twe millions of bottles of hia
celebrated Prepared Glue and it is estiasated that
each bottla saves st least ten dollars warth of
broken furniture, thus making an aggregate of
twenty millions of dollars re claimed fro* total
loss by this invaluable invention. Haring made
his Glue a household word, he now proposes to do
the world still greater service by curing all the
aching heads with his Cephalic Pills, and if they
are as good as his Glue, Headaches wfll seen van
ish away like snow ia July.
