BE it enabled by the Senate and lioufe of Reprejentatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled , That for the due collection of the duties imposed by law, on the tonnage of (hips and velfels, and on goods, wares and merchandizes, imported in to the United States, there thall be eftablith ed and appointed, diftriCts, ports and officers, in manner following, to wit: The slate of NEW-HAMPSHIRE Mil be one diftriCt, to include the town of Ponfraouth its the foie port of entry ; and the towns of Newcastle, Dover and Exeter, as ports of delivery only; but all (hips or vefTels bound to or from either of the laid ports of delive ry, shall firft come to, enter and clear at Fortf inouth; and a naval-officer, collector and furveyor,.for the said diftriCt Hull be appoint ed, to reside at Portsmouth. In the ftjUe of MASSACHUSETTS (hail fee twenty diltriCts and ports of entry, to wit: Newbury-poit, Gloucester, Salem and Bever ly, as one port; Marblehead, Boftou and Charleflown, as one port; Plymouth, Barn flahle, Nantucket, Edgartown, New-Bedford, Dighton, York, Biddeford and Pepperelbo rough, as one port; Portland and Falmouth as one port; Bath, Wifcaflet, Penobfcot, •Frenchman’s Bay, Machias and Pallamaquo dy. To the diftriCt of Newbury-port thall be annexed the several towns or landing places of Almlbuty, Salilhury and Haverhill, which Uiall be ports of delivery only ; and a col leCtor, naval-officer and surveyor, for the diftriCt shall be appointed, to reside at New hury-port. To the diftriCt of Gloucester thall be annexed the town of Manchester, as a port of delivery only ; and a collector and survey or thall be appointed, to reside at Gloucester. To the diftriCt of Salem aud Beverly thall be annexed the towns or landing places of Dan vers and Ipswich, as ports of delivery only ; arid a collector, naval-officer and surveyor, for the diftriCt thall be appointed, to reside at Salem ; aud a surveyor to retire at each of the. towus of Beverly and Ipswich. To thd* diftriCt of Marblehead thall be annexed the town of Lynn, as a port of delivery only; and a collector for the diftriCt Dial! be appoint-- ed, to refule at Marblehead. To the diftriCt of Boftou and Charleftown thall be annexed the towus or landing places of Medford, Co halfet and Bingham, as ports of delivery on ly ; and a collector, naval-officer and survey or, thall be appointed, to reside at Boston. To the diftriCt of Plymouth thall be annexed the several towns or landing places of Sci tuate, Duxbtiry and Kingston, as ports of de livery only; and a collector for the diftriCt fffall be appointed, to reside at Plymouth. I<> the diftriCt of Barnftable thall be annexeJ the leveral towns or landing places of Sandwich, Harwich, Wclfieet, Province-Town aud Cha tham, as ports of delivery only ; ami a col lector for the diftriCt thall be appointed, to reside at Barnftable. In the diftriCt of Nan tucket, the port of Sherbourne thall be the folc port of entry aud delivery within'the fame# and a collector thall be appointed, to reftde at bherbourne. To the diftriCt ot Ed gartowu thall be annexed the town of t’*l mouth, as a port of delivery only ; and a eolledoc thill be appointed# to ** GEORGIA : gartown. To the diftrid of New-Bedford fliall be annexeed Weft-Port, Rochefler and Wareham, as ports of delivery only ; and a colledor for the diftrid shall be appointed, to reside at New-Bedford. Tothe diftridof Digh ton lhall be annexed Swanfey and Freetown, as ports of delivery only; and a colledor for the diflrid fliall be appointed, to reside at Dighton. To the diftrid of York fliall be annexed Kit tery and Berwick, as ports of delivery only ; and a colledor for the diftrid fliall be appoint ed, to reside at York. To the diflrid of Bid- Pepperelborough fliall be annexed Scarborough, Wells, Kennebunk and Capc- Porpoise, as ports of delivery only; and a colledor for the diftrid fliall be appointed, to reside at Biddeford. To the diftrid of Port land and Falmouth fliall be annexed North- Yarmouth and Brunswick, as ports of deli very only ; and a colledor and surveyor fliall be appointed for the diftrid to reside at Port land. 1 o the diftrid of Bath fliall be annex ed HallowelJ, Pittttown andToplham, as ports of delivery only ; and a collector for thedi ftnd lhall be appointed, to reside at Bath. 1 o the diftrid of Wifcafiet fliall be annexed Bristol, Boothbay and Waldoborough, as ports of delivery only; and a collector for the di ftrid fliall be appointed, to reside at Wifcaf l'et. To the diftrid of Penobfcot lhall be an nexed Thomafton, Frankfort, Sedgwick- Poiut and Dcei-Ifland, as ports of delivery only ; and a colledor for the diftrid lhall be appointed, to reside at Penobfcot. To the diftrid: of Frenchman’s-Bay fliall be annexed Union-River, as a port of delivery only; aud a colledor for the diftrid fliall be appoint ed, to reside at Frenchmau’s-Bay. Fur each of the diftrids of Machias and Pafl\maquody lhall be appointed a colledor, to reside at the laid ports ol Machias and Pafiimaquody re fpediveiy. The diftrid of Newbury-port lhall include all the waters and ihores from the state of New-Hampihire, to the north line of Ipswich. The diftrid of Gloucester lhall include all the waters and lhoies in the towns of Gloucester and Manchefier. The diftrid of Salem and Beverly lhall include all the Ihores and wafers within the towns of Ips wich, Beverly, Salem and Danvers. The di ftrid of Mai biehead fliall iuclycle all the Waters and lhoies within the towns of Marblehead and Lyun. The diftiidof Boston aud.Charlef town Ih-tU include all enc waters and Ihores within the counties ot Middlesex and Suffolk. The diftrid of Plymouth thall include all the waters aud ihores within the county of Ply mouth, excepting the towns of Ware£am and ftocheftcr. In the Hate of CONNECTICUT (hall be three diftrids, to wit: New-London, Ncw- Haven and Fairfield. The diftrifl of New- London dull extend from the east line of the laid Hate of Conned icut to the wett line of the towu of Killingfworth, and north to the louth line of the Hate of Malfacbufecrs, and lhall also include the several towns or lauding places of Stonington, Groton Lyme, Saybro k, Haddam, Eaft-Haddam* Middletown, Chatham, Weathersficld, Glaf tenbury, Hartford, Eaft-Hartford and Kil lingfworth, as potts of dclivei y only ; New- London to be the foie port of entry ; and a culledor and surveyor for the diftrid (hall be appointed, to reside at New-London, and a surveyor to reside at each of thp ports of btoumgton and Middletown. The diftrid of New-Haven ihaU extend from the weft line of the diftrid of New-London, wefiwardly to Oufatum'nick river; 10 which lhall be an nexed the several towns or landing places of Guiltord, Brandtord, Milford and Derby, as ports of delivery only ; New-Haven to* be the folepoa of entry; and a colledor and luiveyor lor the diftrid (lull be appointed, to reiide at New-Haven. The did rid of Fair field lhall include all the ports and places in the laid Hate of Coniiedicut, weft of the diftrid of New-Haven, to which lhall be annexed the leveral towns or landing places of Nor walk, Stratford, Stamford and Greenwich, as ports of delivery only; Fairfield to be’the lole port of entry; and a collator for this dillnd lhall be appointed, to reside at Fair field. And New-London, New-Haven and Fairfield, lhall leverally hepoirsof entry. In the state of NEW-YORK (hail be two dill rids, town: Sagg-ha. bour on Nall'au or Long Hland, and the city of New-York, each oi which lhall be a port of entry.
