Mr. O’Neal presented to the House a peti tion from Hepworth Carter, which being read, was ordered to be referred to the committee on petitions. Mr. Taliaferro from the committee ap pointed to prepare and bring in a bill to di vide the county of Wilkes, presented the fame, which was read the firft time. Mr. Gignillia* presented a petition from a number of the inhabitants of Liberty county, which being read, waa ordered to be refer red to a special committee to consist of three irferhbeti. . . Ordered , That Mr. O’Neal, Mr. Taliafer ro and Mr. Tatnall, be that committee. Mr. Waldburger presented a petition from David Fither, which being read, waa ordered t<? be referred to the committee on petitions. . Re/olvtdt That a dedudion from the bond on which judgment is recovered of the said Josiah Powell, be made by the Treasurer, ■ when the sum is afeertained by the Auditor, so far as the deficiency of the quantity of the land requires, and that the sum, when so af certaiued, be a dedudion from the judgment obtained ; to which resolution the Seuate do desire the concurrence of this House. The members afi'embled. ’ Mr. Leake, a member returned for the' county of Glynn, attended, and being quali fied before the Speaker, took bis feat; he al so took and fublcribed the oath to lupport the Couftitutioo of the United States. The order of the day being called for, the House proceeded to resolve itlelf into a com mittee of the whole, to -take under contide ratton that part of his Excellency the Gover-" I nor*s MelTagc, which relates to the treaty of peace entered into between the United States and the Creek-nation of Indians. The Speaker left the chair. Mr. Talbot took the chair of the com mittee *, and after some time spent therein, left it. Mr. Speaker retarded the chair, and Mr. Talbot reported that the committee had de sired him to report progrefc; and requeit leave to fit again. Mr. Waldburger, from the committee ap pointed to prepare and bring in a bill, to empower George Bailiie, administrator of the goods ‘and chattels, rights and credits, which were of his father’s, Robert Bailiie, dccculcd, to fell and dispose of any lands, or other teal estate of the deceased, ptefented the said bill, which was xeceived and read the fi it time. Mr. Moriifon presented a petition from Corday Sharp, praying that his name may be taken off the AH ot Confilcation and Bauilh men,, which was received and read, and ordered to be referred to the committee on petitions. a tetter from David Hillhoufe was receiv ed and read, and ordered to be referred to the committee on finance. A letter from Frederich-Simms was re ceived and read, resigning hisr office as a Juftiee of the Peace in Wilkes county. R tjoived, That bis resignation be accepted, and that his letter be sent to the Senate. Mr. Talbot gave notice, that be intended to morrdw to move for leave* to bring in a bill to amend the aft entitled, « An AH for imposing a ta**for the year ijtyo ” Ordered, That leave be given to prepare and bring in a bill? for the purpofeof ereding a-couh-buufe and goals in the counties of Glynn, Effingham, Greene, Franklin and Liberty, and that a committee be appointed to prepare-and bring in the fame; and that Mr. Ldfike, Mr. Lyman, Mr. Daniel!, Mr. Hirdin, and Mr. Wood, be that committee. A bill to clear Brier Creek was read a se cond time. ' The Huufetefolved itfeif into a committee of the whole on the said bill. Mr. Speaker left the chair. Mr. Andrew took the chkir of the com mittee. Mr. Speaker resumed the chair; and Mr. Andrew reported, that the committee had * taken the said bill under their consideration, ' and had made some progress therein; aiM had direded him to move for leave to fit again.' Re'.olvtd, That this House will agkin on Thursday next, resolve itfeif into a commit tee of the whole on the said bill. Mr. Lawson and Mr. Iverfon, members returned for the county of Biirke, attended, and being qualified before the Speaker, took their feats ; they also took and fubferibed the \ oath to support the Federal'Cooftitution. Resolved, That a committee be appointed ’ to examine and corred the Minutes of this ’’ House, so far as to matter of form; andthat ‘ " Mr. Sullivan, Mr. Milledge and MrrStuaft, be that committee. Rejolved, That it is thefenfe of this House, that the Journals of the General Alterably ought to be printed, for the information of the citizens of the Bate; Ordered, That the foregoing resolution be * sent to the Senate for their concurrence; and that Mr. Milledge, Mr. Sullivan and Mr. . Stuart, be appointed a committee on the part of this House, to join any committee to be appointed by the Senate, to determine on the mode of publishing the fame. Mr. Waldburger, from the committee ap pointed on petitions presented to former Le giilatures, and which have not been decided on, reported in part. Ordered, That the said report do lie on the table.
