] , C es infected with malignant diseases, or
[jjewhere, without a permit from the Health
Intelligence from Camden mentions, that
two horses from the Coleraine station were
rt p ] en on Saturday night the 21st instant,
supposed bv Indians.
A correspondent affuresus that the follow
up. fads are derived from a source of inteh
licence ofunquefdonable authenticity:
s lhat, in ccnfequence of a proportion
from the Agent of Indian Affairs, that some
of the Chiefs and Headmen of the Creek
Ration should meet him at the Oakmulgee
on the iot’n of lad month to accompany him
into the Nation, there was a meeting of the
principal Chiefs of the Lower Towns on the
* 2 th, and two Chiefs from the Tuckabatcbes,
who were accidentally present, when it was
agreed that several Chiefs and others Ihculd
jneet the Agent at the Oakmulgee about the
2 -th, to accompany him into their nation,
and expreffmg at the fame time a determina
tion to do all they could to give fatisfa&ion,
and fettle matters in an amicable manner.
On the receipt of this intelligence the Agent
fixed on the 26th for his departure from the
Oconee, that he might be on the 2d instant
at the Cuffctah Town according to their ap
pointment.
That the late talks from the Spanilh Agents
to the Creek Nation were much changed.
The principal. Agent in the Upper Creeks,
jn his last talk, informed them, that the
King ofSpain, his Mader, had ordered him
to tell them, that, if they continued to com
mit hodilitieson the Americans, they should
have no more ammunition, and all trade .
v.ith them should be dopt, by locking up
Ponton’s dores; and that if they did not
Lien to this counsel, and brought on them
fdves a war, the Spaniards would join againff
them. This lad information was communi
cated by the Chiefs from the Upper Towns
at the above mentioned meeting oil the 12th,
and orders were sent immediately to all the
inimical Towns to continue at home until
the Agent arrived, when, as they were the
offenders, they mud endeavor to fettle mat
ters, so as to avoid bringing a war on the
Nation.
That, in consequence of the attack made
>y Captain Baird on the Cherokecs some
time ago, they had sent a war hatchet
twice in the lad month to the Head War
rior of the Tuckabatchies, who sent it
>ack, aclvifing them strongly to remain
quiet, and asking at the fame time how they
here to get supplies to carry on the war.
That several parties of the militia were
out from Greene and Franklin counties,
with the avowed design of intercepting the
Agent, or the Indians coming to meet him,
in order to prevent the re-ellablifhment of
ieace. One of these parties, under a Capt.
Williamson, marched the 16th, and proceed
ed to the Oakmulgee, and then returned;
and another party, under Col. Alexander,
was over the Oconee about the 20th. It
was not known whether these officers had
embodied their militia, and marched them
out of the limits of the United States, by
their own authority, or by orders from the
Commander in Chief. That the Governor
received a letter from the Agent, dated the
id, acquainting hint of his intentions, of the
flattering profpcdl there was of re-establish
ing peace on equitable terms, of the ten
dency of thofemiiitia parties to defeat if,and
praying he would interfere to prevent it, as
not only hisownfafety, but that ofevety Ame
rican citizen in the nation would depend on it.

SEDLEY,- to add frejh fame to his reputa
tion as a writer commences a new career ,
and becomes DEVIL, —he is to be my evil ge
nius ; — well! content, —’twill be fun for the
Cynic hit, felf and a Catholicon for every
species of the fpl.en. His writing luff piece
in such a passion, I will admit as an apology,
for the five or fix blunders contained in it;
one, however is worthy of notice “ and if any
brutal passion exist / would recommend
him to peruse his manufeript again, he may then,
be able to fieto it in a thisd dress, and impute
the (econd fault also to the Printer, who has
father’d the firft ; and whiljt his hand is in,
let him add the other erratafor the former piece,
—he will find a few more inaccuracies there,
which did not escape detection, although they
have expofurc ; and were it as edifying to the
public, as it ought to be mortifying to the writer
of the pieces ftgned Lathario, Califta, Sedlcy

is perfectly unnecejfary to make any observation
on the powers exercised to deteEl errors, which
are so glaring, that it were an insult to com
pliment one on the difeernment in difeovering
them .
