THE deflrußion of property which the late in
undation of the river Savannah has occaftoned
in the town of Augufla, and the calamities which a
like misfortune may bring on it in future, will, it
is hoped, induce the citizens of this jlate to give
every encouragement to a mcafurc which may prevent
as much as poffibte , fuck damages being done in fu
ture: To remedy which, and forward those valuable
purpojes, thefubferihers appointed commissioners for
carrying into effect'the law for eflabhfhing the

THE Commiflioners of the court
houft and jail of the county of Ruhmond , to
be enabled to fulfil the contra&s entered into for
building a jail in the town of Augufla, are under
the necessity of requeuing that immediate payment be
made to Mr. William H. Jack of the Notes giv
en byway of fubfnpnon tv aid the a for said under
taking; as all the funds whiJi have heretofore come
into their hands, are now exhaujled. m

WE the fobferibers beg leave ro inform me
public that we have commenced the prac
tice of physic in all its various departments; we
flatter ourselves we (hall be able to give fatisfaftion
to those who will be pleased to favor us with their
custom; due attendance, with steady attention
will be given at their own houses, or will take in
such that live at a distance; we are in hopes the
success we have had in various cronical diseases,
such as rhumatifm, gout, palfey, Sec. will merit
the attention and approbation of The public ; ul
cers, cancers, fcurpholous all forts of fungous
or scorbutic flelh we expell; and warrant firm
cures of all vitible diseases whatever, or the non
• payment of any account where the cure is not
authentic.

of George Barues and Co. being diifolvcd some
time; those indebted to the said firm arc earuellly
requeued to make payment or to call and liquidate
their accounts with the said George Ker, who is
fully empowered to receive the fame; and those
w'ho have demands on said concern, w ill also pieafe
to bring in their accounts to him for fertlement.

A letter from the infprttors of the Augusta
ware-house Hating that the fame had been
much injured by thr lalt inundation of Savannah
river, and was now in an unfafe condition and
wholly unfit to recei- e produce. And the board
taking the fame into confiderarion, and resorting
to the resolution ot the late legislature by which
the said ware-house is contemplated to be remov
ed, and finding that the proptietor, whofoevei ho
may be, has made no application to this board con
cerning the fame or taken any other Hep therein
since palling the said resolution for cairying the
fame into elfedf,
It tj ordered , That unless jJfcper measures be tak
-1 en by fitch proprietor, or his agent, for the said
purposes within thirty days next after the publica
tion of this order, the board will proceed immedi
ately thereafter to rake such measures as (hall be
ne elftry to secure the said ware-house to be in ON
der to receive the ensuing crop.

Machine for cleaning cotton by Rolleis.
THIS fubferiber begs leave to inform the cotton
planters of Georgia arid South-Carolina, that he hat

which he will lay before the public , in the following
manner :

but all the machines belonging to a share, i,J r ,C
kept in one place only, and within the limits of the
county for which the share is taken. After thefrjl
of September a model of this machine may be seen at
Pcteifbiirg, and after the nth of the June month, at
Auguf/a. Three or four difntcrefled perjons of re
jpettability jhall be appointed , at both places, to
view the operation of the maihine, and xj they ad
judge it competent for cleaning cotton in the mft
expeditious manner without injuring the faple, the
purchasers mu ft pay the. money before they can fee it.
This machine is caply confrußed; any perform
knowing how to use common carpenter’s tools, is ca
pable of doing the wood werk, and almofl any Jmitk
can, by having patterns, make the iron ucrh uith

'T'HAT valuable tradl of land, known
by the name of Shell- Bluff, containing fur
hundred 'acres, jiluate on Savannah river , about
2, miles below Augvfla , in th* county of Burke ;
th reon is 77 acres of cleared land \and other improve
ments, 70 acres river swamp, the remainder of the
tract is high lend of the firfl quality, fuitailc for
cotton, corn or indigo. It is well timbered for lum
ber ; and a beautiful situation inferior to none in
the fate.
Alio, 410-T acres pine land, and one
third pan of a Jaw-mill feat, with the dam thereon ,
already cempLa ; situate on Newberry’s creek, two
and a half miles from the river, and is attended with
the conveniency of taking the lumber from the mill
by water, and is I very convenient to the above plan
tation.
N. B. The plats and grants , and every convey
ance from the grantees, down to myjelf ’, will be pro
duced, and indifpu table titles given to the pur chafer,
