A Proclamation.
WHEREAS I have re
ceivcd information upon oath,
that a certain man by the name
of Hart Campcn, was on the night oi the
second instant, in the county of Hancock
tn the said (late, barbarously murdered
by fomc person or perfon* unknown.
IN ORDER THEREFORE, That
the perpetrator or perpetrators of the a
forefaid atrocious crime may be brought
so condign puniffiment, and to prevent as
ftr at possible the like enormities in fu
ture I have thought fit to issue this my
proclamation, offering a reward of ONE
HUNDRED DOLLARS to any person
r,r persons who (hall apprehend and bring
in justice the aforelaid murderer or mur
derer*.
AND I DO HEREBY flriflly enjoin
»nd require all officers civil and military
within this (late, to be aiding and afliftirsg
iYi order that this my Proclamation may
ftfe carried into due effeft.

Notice is hereby Given,
'T'HAT agreeably to an ad of
Congress of the United States of Ante
tiro, passed at Philadelphia, the lbih day
ts May, 1756; laying duties on Carriages,
for the conveyance of persons, which Jhall
he kept by or for arty pefjn, for his or her
twn life, cr to let out to hire, or for the
conveyance of passengers, the fever al duties

Notice is also given,

cences will be granted to them ; cne licence
for carryi>]f, on the bufnefs cf retailing of
IVines, in a Ifs quantity, cr in less quan
tities than thirty gallons---and one licence
for carrying on the bujinrfs of retailing spi
rituous liquors in Ujs quantifies than 20
gallons.
N. B. Application for the renezoal of
licences, entrys of carriages, end payment
cf duties, for the ensuing \2 months, to be
made to Jofiua Meals, colic dor of the re
venue Jor the county cf Richmond, at his
house in the town of Augufla.

A BSCONDED about two

about q feet 4 inches high, 16 years of
age, and supposed to be pregnant. She
went away in a brown (halloon petticoat,
a dark callico wrapper, and a new black
caftor hat. She has a variety of deaths,
!) a good waffier and ironer, raised to
house work, can card and spin, of few
words, but much cunning; probably she
may change her name and attempt a di
stance. Sixty dollars will be paid on
conviftton that (he is harboured by a
white petfon, or free person of colour,
and ten dollars on conviftion of a (lave,
and ten dollars for delivering, or lodging
her in any jail in this (late or South Ca
rolina.

creek, adjoining Thatcher, in the name of
Francis Allin.
The aforementioned trails of land art
returned to me as not having the taxes paid
on them for the. year 1795 ; the owners are
requeued to take notice and let me know be
fore the day ofjale.

COTTON GINNING.
fome alterations in my

about 120 lb. cf greenfeed cotton per day ;cf
course the price in future will be two hun
dred dollars each, to be paid as the pur
chaser and myfelf may agree, excetl those
who have complied with the terms of my
former advertisement.
My intention is to eflallifh with conve
nient expedition, as many cf those machines
through this fate and South-Carolina,
as will clean a confidcrable fart of the crop
of cotton now growing.
If the (leaning cf cotton with wooden
rollers and with the above mentioned expe
dition deserves any encouragement from the
public, 1 have no doubt cf receiving it,
nor need they any longer doubt the. certain
ty of what l fay.
