Note r. The Poll Mafler General may
alter ihe times of arrival and departure at
any time during the continuance ot ihe
contract, he previously stipulating an
adequate compensation tor any extra ex
pense that may be ociafi >ned thereby.
N )te 2. Half an hour lhall be allowed
for opening and elding the Mail at all
tffi;es where no particular time is fpecifi
ett.
Note 3. For every hour's delay (un
avoidable accidents exce; ted) in arriving
alter the times preferibed in any con
trail, the contrailor lhall torfeit one dol-.
lar, and if the delay continue until the
departure of any depending mail whereby
the mails dettined for such depending
mail, lose a trip, an additional forfeiture
of five dollars mall be incurred.
Note 4. Newspapers as well as letters
ate to be sent in the mails; and if any
person making proposals defircs to carry
newspapers other than those conveyed in
the mail, lor his own emolument, he
mull Hate in his proposals for what sum
he will carry it with that emolument and
for what sum without that emolument.
Note g. Should any person making
proposals desire an alteration of the times
of arrival and departure above fpecified,
he mull state in his proposals the altera-,
tions drfired, and the difference they
will make in the terms of his contrail.
Note 6. Persons making proposals are
desired to slate their prices in gross by
the year, and not by the mile. —Those
who contrail will receive their pay quar
terly, in the months of January, April,
July and Oilober, in drafts on. the post
offices on the route and in bank notes.
Note 7. The contrails are to be in
operation on the firft day of April next,
and continue for four years, until the 3ill
day of March tnclufive, in the year 1802.
