A Proclamation.
WHEREAS I have
received official information
from Benjamin Hankins, En
quire, P. T. agent tor Indian affairs
fouth of the Ohio, that certain Indians
at their encam, ment on the waters of
Little river, fouth weft of the river Oco
-1 nee, were on the night of the twenty
second day of December lad, fired on by
sundry persons unknown, whereby one
Indian was killed and two wounded;
which persons were, by the said agent’s
information, trailed to a certain crofting
place on the sforefaid river Oconee, and
it is supposed have taken refuge in some
pan or parts within the ordinary jurisdic
tion of this tlate.
AND WHEREAS such proceedings
are dangerous to the fafety and welfare
of the said (late, and the security of her
frontier citizens, some of whom may fall
viilim9 to savage resentment excited by
such unlawful means: IN ORDER
THEREFORE to prevent as far as ~offib
le the like attrocions crimes in tuturr,
an I that the offenders may be brought to
jutlice ; I HAVE thought fit to issue this
mv prodamatior offering a reward of ONE
HUNDRED DOLLARS to any person
or persons who (hall difeover and prose
cute to convidtion the said offenders.

within this (late to be diligent, aiding
and assisting in apprehending and secur
ing the aforefaid offenders, in order that
they may be brought to condign puni(h

on Sandy creek, adjoining Sorril, with a
valuable grifl mill and saw mill, w ith other
‘ good imbrovenunts ; taken as the property
of T. Harris at the infiance of R. Sorril.
Also , 287 1-2 acres of land on the wa
ters of Oconee, joining Thompson, Ran
dolph and Dcnmfcn, in said county, in‘
pejfcjjion of Benjamin Nichols’, z'6’j 1-2
acres in poffeffiion of John Fenw, on the
waters of Snuutderbone ; 287 a>. res in pof
feffum of Jufeph Kirkham, adjoining
Jackson and vacant land; 287 acres in
