'Mr. Elliot , fiys his federal panegyriffs,
has correct views of man and things, and
his opinions and ssflerttons are entitled to
full credit and confidence. The Prejident,
fays Mr. Ellibt, deserves every praise—is
a man “eminent for talents and patriotism,"
for diftiog’jifhcd and irreproachable public
and private virtue. The President , aver
these champions of Elliot’s sense and judg
ment, is corrupt and unprincipled—stained
with every vice, and meriting the mod;
hearty execration. Now, if ,Mr. E. is
right, the Federaliffs are wrong.—Ehe fed
erally declare that Mr; E. is.correft-—and
ofcourfe, that they 'hem'elves a,re either
liars or dupes; Mr. E. is their own witness
—they cannot except to his teftimeny
and the whole of that testimony is to be
taken together. Enquirer.

From London Papers,
Some people think that Mr. Pitt would
have been a great performer , if his delliny
had led him to the llage. He has undoubt
edly, in his time, occafioncd a high degree
of terror, and now he excites universal pity.
The alteration in the royal liveries docs
not extend to all his Majesty’s servants.
Yet perhaps some of them (land very much
in need of it, as they have turned their coats
so often, that very little of the original llulr
is visible ; and one can scarce. know how
becoming they were when they\firld put them
, on.
Mr. Pitt’s obstinacy in imposing the ad
ditional duty on fait, is thought to be ve
ry wonderful, conAdering the pretty pickle
he has lately been in.
