Simultaneous with the issuing of the Lumpkin Palladium, which appealed to iVIr. Crawford to prevent a discon tinuance of the tri-weekly mail between Lumpkin and Cuthbert, a letter is sent from the Post Office Department, rendering that appeal unnecessary. Here is the letter: Post Office Department, ) Contract Office, Sept. 4th, 1858- { *S<V .• 1 have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your favor of the Ist, and to state that an order has been issued to restore the service between Lumpkin and Cuthbert. Prof. John Darby, of Auburn, Ala , has placed before the public a chemical preparation, which, from the weighty testimonials ofits value as adis a fee ting agent irom gentlemen of integrity, entitle it to a favorable notice from us. We are assured that it is no “quack med cine,” made to deceive a credulous people. The char acter of Prof. Darby himself, Mr. Price, the Agent, and those who voluntarily certify to its merits puis an extinguisher upon sucdi a charge. It is regarded as a powerful disinfectant. Purifies dwellings, removes all offensive odors, is of great value in tire sick room, cleanses and heals sores, burns and wounds and counteracts the effects of any animal or vegetable poison, such as bites and stings. It is also said to mitigate the most alarni ing symptoms of Scarlet and Typhoid Fever.— The reputation Prof. Darby as a chemist would jualify us in believing the preparation valuable, regardless of the testimonials be has received. We invite our readers to a perusal of the spec ial notice in another column. J.S. GRENADA ELIXIR 9 OR ; South American Antidote for Malaria! j h a sure Cure and Perfect fioute to Ague and Fever, Chill ana Fever, Dumb Ague, and all Bilious Affections ! T’i’has been thoroughly tested in thousands of cases, some ol years’ standing, where Quinine j and all the most popular remedies of the day had ] failed, but the Elixir has met with the most trium ! pliant success; never failed to cure the most obsti - nate cases. The unanimous testimony of all who s have used or witnessed its operations, declare it to | be the most extraordinary medicine ever diacov \ erod for the quick and permanent euro of Fever . and Ague. It operates as a gentle Tonic and : stimulant, gradually but surely; eradicates every i vestige of disease, and restores the system to health ‘ and vigor. It imparts new vitality to the blood, | and will soon iuduce the glow of health to return ; to Uio pale and swarthy complexion, ! The advantage of this medicine therefore is, that a cure must he radical and complete; not simply i breaking the Chill, by producing a “new impres- I sion” upon the nervou system, without reference to the operations of the malarious poison, which is allowed to remain unchanged and renew its attacks, immediately after the nervous system has ceased to feel the artificial disease —induced j by Quinine and many other preparations, generally j resorted to. The GRENADA ELIXIR acis di rectly upon the Liver, Stomach, Kineys, Pores I of the Skin, and produces a radical cure, i It contains no ingredient the least injurious to | the system, and can be given r to an infant with i perfect safety. It is warranted to cure every case ! when taken as directed. Ail who need such a medicine, will do well to try the Grenada Elixir, it is not only the host but I the most economical medicine ever introduced j for Fever and Ague and is a Southern Remedy.
