THE DAILY TIMES.
THE CITY.
The Daily Enquirer.
Our neighbor of the Enquirer has doffed itstri
weekly apparel, and now appears in the now dress
of a Daily.
We heartily wish our cotemporary success.—
We believe in competition and do not regard the
prosperity ot the Enquirer as antagonistic to our
own.
We have now three Dailies in Columbus. The
“Sun” which has been shining lor some time, its
rays directed by J. W. Gaulding, Esq , —the En
quirer, under the editorial management of Mr. J.
If, Martin, and this Journal under the guidance of
our own feeble ability.
The community abroad will tiius obsetve the
prosperity of Columbus, and admire the generosity
of its citizens in supporting the printer and reading
every day the latest news in the country.
Death of an old Citizen.
Michael N. Clarke, Esq., an old and much re
spected citizen of Columbus, died Satmday. He
has resided i.i this city since its first settlement and
lias held positions in the county, which he filled
with credit. He was a Lieutenant in the Cadet
Riflemen commanded by Capt. T. C. Evans in
the Florida war in 1836, and bore himself as a
soldier during tiiat campaign. He was buried by
the Masons, as he was a bright and shining light
in that fraternity.
See the advertisement ol George W. Rushin
for a situation as overseer.
Read carefully the advertisement, by Messrs
Brooks & Chapman, of Eppings celebrated “Ex
tract of Buchu.” Competent physicians recom
mend it as a capital remedy lor the diseases there
in mentioned.
DAILY COMMERCIAL RECORD.
Columbus Times Office, Sept. 24.
COTTON—The trade opened at the begin ing
of last week with considerable animation, and
continued so until Satnrday night. We have never
known at this season of the year so much cotton
received and sold as during the past week. In
fact every department of trade participated largely
in this unusual activity.
Our inquiries fiom the planters lead us to the
opinion that these heavy receipts of Cotton are
premature, and that the larger bulk ot the present
crop will be gathered by the Ist November. The
arrivals from Liverpool continued to advance the
market, and on Saturday sales were freely made at
115-8(5)11 3-4, and from the feeling manifested,
we can almost promise our readers that the trade of
the coming week will ha fully as large and ani
mated with perhaps a better averug e price.

FFEEDOM FROM FEVER AND AGUE
THIUBIPHANT SUCCESS! .
THE
GRENADA ELIXIR,
OR
South American Antidote for Malaria!
Is a sure Cure and Perfect Route to Ague
and Fever, Chill and Fever, Dumb Ague,
and all Bilious Aj/ections !
IT has been thoroughly tested in thousands of
cases, some of years’ standing, w here Quinine
and all the most popular remedies of the day had
failed, hut the Elixir has met with the most tri
umphant success; never failed to cure the most
obstinate eases. The unanimous testimony of all
w ho have used or w itnessed its operations, declare
it to be (be most extraordinary medicine ever dis
covered for the quick and permanent cure of Fe
ver and Ague, ft operates as a gentle Tonic and
stimulant, gradually but surely; eradicates every
vestige of disease, and restores the system to health
and vigor. It imparts new vitality to the blood,
and will soon induce the glow 7 of health to return
to tlie pale and swarthy complexion.
The advantage of this medicine therefore is, that
a ctire must be radical and complete ; not simply
breaking the Chill, by producing a “new impres
sion” upon the nervous system, without reference
to the operations of the malarious poison, which
is allowed to remain unchanged and renew its at
tacks, immediately alter the nervous system has
ceased to feel the artificial disease—induced by
Quinine and many other preparations generally
resorted to. The GRENADA ELIXIR acts di
rectly upon the Liver, Stomach, Kidneys, Pores
of the Skin, and produces a radical cure.
It contains no ingredient the least injurious to
tlie system, and can be given to an inlant with
perfect safety. It is warranted to cure every case
when taken as directed.
All who need such a medicine, will do well to
try the Grenada Elixir. It is not only the best but
the must economical medicine ever introduced for
Fever and Ague and is a Southern Remedy.

This is a purely vegetaole compound, prepared on
strictly scientific principles, after the manner of the
celebrated Holland Professor, Bocrhave, Because
of its great success in most of the European States,
its introduction into the United Slates was intended
more especially for those of our f theriand scattered
here and there > ver the face of'this mighty country.
Meeting with great success among them, I now of
fer it to the American public, knowing that its truly
wonderful medicinal virtuesraust be acknowledged.
It is particularly recommended to those persons
whos< constitutions may have been impaired by the
continuous use of ardent spirits, or other forms oi
dissipation. Gen<raily instantaneous in (ffi-ct, it
finds Us way directly to ihe seat of life, thrilling and
quickening every nerve, raising up Ihe drooping
spirit, and, in fact, infusing new health and vigor in
the system.
