THE DAILY TIMES. THE C LT Y. Dr. Beale’s Exhibition. -Our readers, esseclaU ly the little one-, must not forget this amusing and instructive show; it is open every evening, and this afternoon for the children. Go and be pleased. Distiguisred Arrival.— S. Singleiary, the antiquated and migratory typo,.passed through this city the other day, on his journeyjngs to and fro up and down the earth. There are few local ities in our country that he has not ’visited in his rambles for the last thirty or forty years, and few ot the “cralt” are so well known. The old man’s face exhibits the deep furrows of time and care which indicate that his meanderings are almost over. When his sun of life does set, may he get beyond the range of the clicking types and the tiicksofthe “devil.” New Advertisements. t§T See the law card of A B. Seals, Esq , of Hamilton, Ga. He is an experienced attorney with whom our citizens can entrust their claims and commit their cases. Mr. James McPhillips announces to the Ladies of Columbus that he will open an elegantly fur nished dry good store in a few days at the standjor- occupied by Messrs. Albertson & Flinn. We are sure this gentleman will prosper, as one of the chief elements of success is to advertise liberally. Planters are invited by Messrs. A. C. Saunders and Cos., to call at the old stand of Landon &, Merry and examine the best and cheapest lot of negro shoe s ever brought to this market. Give them a call Settle Up. —Those indebted to the old firm of John McGough &.Co.,are notified that they can* not owe much longer. Heed the warning. Something for Everybody from a tooth pick to a Robe a Lea can be had at the Store of Messrs Harrison & Fitts at private sale or Auction. The latter sales commence on next Tuesday night and will be continued through the winter season. Now everybody attend or we will remind you again. Read their advertisement to-day. Mr. J. H. Sikes did not sell out last summer, but is anxious to sell out by retail this coming winter, Call at his furniture Store, 36 B.road street and you j will find him alw'ays m the humor to give bar gains. Anything connected with the business of ! Upholstery, he will do cheaply and well. Let there be. no Secrets in Medicine, or rather i no pretended secrets. The Medical Faculty pub lish as soon as made, all their discoveries, and almost all that is known of real value for the cure of disease, has been discovered by them.— Dr. Ayer takes the honorable, honest course, and right because it is honest. He goes to work and invents the best remedy which medical skid can devise for the cure of certain complaints: then publishes what it is and maintains hi3 monoply of it solely by making it cheaper, better, more per fect, than anybody else can. If the people would exact this ot all who offer medicines, they would have much less trade and trash to swallow.— N. O. Organ. Oct. Ist. dfljwlw. Great Railroad Case.— ln the U. S. Circuit Court at Chicago, on Monday, Judge McLean presiding, the case of George C Bates vs. the Illinois Central Railroad Cos., being an action of ejectment brought for the recovery of the depot grounds of the I. 1 C. R, R. Cos., was brought to trial. The case involves property valued at. two mill ions of dollars, being the grounds occupied by‘several railroad depots. Mr. Bates claims to hold a title to this property which ante dates that of the Raiiroad Company, and has never been extinguished. Congressional Nomination in Massa chusetts. —Boston, Oct. 2.— The Republi can Convention of the Sixth district yes terday nominated John B. Alley, of Lynn, for Congress, after six ineffectual ballot ings. Mr. Alley received sixty-seven votes to thirty-two for Timothy Davis, the pres ent representative from that district. CO I TON There is an active export demand cotton in transitu from Gulf ports to Liver pool, but the transactions from store are of a tri fling character, spinners taking just enough to sat isfy immediate wants and no more. The buoyan cy noticed at the date of our last continues, and the market closes in favor oi the buyer, both for cotton on the spot (the stock of which has become much reduceu) and in transit. The sales foot up 12,000 bales, of which fully 9000 to 10.000 are in transit, on a basis of 12 5-8 (5)12! cents for aver age Middling Orleans, with id (a) 9-16d freight to Liverpool. THE GRENADA ELIXIR, OR South American Antidote for Malaria? Is a sure Cure and Perfect Route to Ague and Fever, Chill and Fever , Dumb Ague, and all Bilious Affections ! IT has been thoroughly tested in thousands of eases, some of years’ standing, where Quinine and all the most popular remedies of the day had failed, but the Elixir has me! with the most tri umphant success; never failed to cure the most obstinate cases. The unanimous testimony of all who have, used or witnessed its operations, declare it to be (he most extraordinary medicine ever dis covered for the quick and permanent cure of Fe ver and Ague. It operates as a gentle Tonic and ■ stimulant, gradually but surely; eradicates every vestige of disease, and restores the system to health arid vigor. It. imparts new vitality to the blood, i and wil soon induce the glow 7 of health to return to the pale and swarthy complexion. The advantage of this medicine therefore is, that a cure must be radical and comple’e ; not simply breaking She Chill, by producing a “new impres sion” upon the nervous system, without reference to the operations of the malarious poison, which is allowed.io remain unchanged and renew its at tacks, immediately after the nervous system has | ceased to feel the artificial disease—induced by i Quinine and many other preparations generally ! resorted to.
