THE lUILY TIMES. THE CITY? Milleduevillk Hotel.— We call the attention of our readers to tho ad vertisement of E. D. Brown in another column. He keeps a splendid Hotel, will have a band of music during the session of the Legislature and will not fail to please those who give him a call- X)r. Barker’s Lecture. < >n L riday night we attended the phrenological lecture of Dr. Barker and were'much edified there*- from. Ihe Dr. is a capital lecturer, has a perfect knowledge of his subject, and combines, in an em *nent degree, tho faculty to instruct with the pow er to entertain. At the conclusion of his lecture he examined the heads of two gentlemen who were selected from the audience by a committee, and his pelineation of their characters was con sidered remarkably accurate and truthful. He lectures to-night upon anew and more interesting branch of the science* Admission free. We ad” vise all to attend. DIED. Died in Baker county, on the 18th inst., Mrs. Mary Victoria, wife of Mr. Ezekiel Wimberly, and daughter ol the late Dr. Abner Holt, of Ma con. The tomb encloses in its port? Is the cold re mains of her, who in life was the pride of her friends, the joy of her husband, the angel of her household. As the tender flower, just opened from the clefts ot its hood, full of the dew of Heaven as a lamb’s fleece, and fair as morning, shedding its sweet Iragrance around, is suddenly despoiled of its beauty, thrown to the ground by some rude blast, touching heart with sadness—so.has this lovely wo man in all the charm of young life —its rosy tint on her cheek—its happiness on her brow—her virtues shining in glowing brightness, been stricken from earth, filling the soul with sorrow and a happy home with gloom. But she is gone! We trust a bright jewel sparkles in her crown, and she is clothed with white robes of immortal glory. _ Ed. Times. The Balloon Race.—The balloon race at Cincinnati between Mohs. Godard and Prof. Steir.er is fixed on the 18th inst.— The Gazette says: A committee of five well know citizens has been chosen, who are to decide wheth er the weather in the morning shall justify the inflation of the balloons. When the in flation has commenced the aeronauts must go. Each may take up a passenger at his discretion. The success of either will be in relation to distance, not height. Arrange-* ments will be made for each aeronaut to send down, at every town passed, in a par achute, a “log” or note containing the name of the balloon which passes and any inci dent occurring on the trip, which will be sent by telegraph. Mons. Godard and Pro fessor Steiner each expect to be up three or four days. DAILY “COMMERCIAL RECORD. Columbus Times Office, Oct. 25. CCTTON.—Our market on Saturday exhibi ted but little activity. How to Preserve Beauty. —Nothing is more becoming to a man or woman, than a beautiful and luxuriant head of hair, and a woman’s beau ty is certainly incomplete without a fair complex ion, and he or she who neglects these great and important adornments of nature must expect to suffer the mortification of premature baldness, and a wrinkled face and a sallow skin. Nothing is necessary to preserve these essential attractions but the use of Professor Wood’s Restorative. — Louisville Times. Prof. Wood’s Hair Restorative- —We have had occasion to use this famous preparation of Prof. Wood’s, and after thoroughly testing its qualities, we find that where the hair is thin it will thicken it, if gray it will restore it to its original color; likewise, it gives a glossy appearance, as well a9 keeps the hair from falling off.
