T* “ The first Shad. This distinguished visitor made Iris way to our city on Saturday morning, to the care of Mr. A. Langford, and was generously handed over to that very polite and gentlemanly landlord-—Jack Smith, of the Planter’s House. We acknowledge the receipt of a kind invitation to be present and help to discuss the merits of said fish, and regret our inability to accept. We are assured however, from one who was ‘thar’and has considerable taste for good eating, that the repast was one calcuatcd in every way to attract the admiration of a hun gry editor. Temperance Hall-To-night. We remind our citizens once more that Mr. 1‘ leming’s Dramatic Company will give their first entertainment to-night at the above locality. The bill is an attractive one—containing Dulwer’s justly celebrated play, “Richelieu” (Mr. Fleming personating the Cardinal,) aud an amusing farce, “The Secret.” A song by Mrs. Williams, and a Jig by Mr. Jus.
