THE DAILY TIMES. THE CITY. So Issue Monday. As to-day will be a holiday for everybody, there will be no issue of the Times Monday morn ing. Our readers will please remember this. Maurice Strakosh. This celebrated pianist will be in this city next Wednesday night, on route for New Orleans, and j will give one of his grand Concerts. Ho is ac- j companied by his Troupe. MIND. DV WILLIAM LKGGKTT. Lot others praise the hue That mantles on thy face, Thine eyes of heavenly blue, And mien of faultless grace ; These charms I freely own, But still a higher find ; ’Twill last when beauty’s flown, Thy matchless charm of mind. j The damp of years may quench The brightness of thine eye; Time’s icy hand may blench The cheek’s vermillion dye; Thy form may lose its grace, Thy voice its sweet control; Rut naught can e’er efface Tho beauties of thy soul. What’s beauty but a flower That blooms in summer’s ray ? When pours the wintory shower. Its charms will fade away. The mind’s a rich perfume. That winter cannot chill; The flower may lose its bloom, But fragrance lingers still. j Stars gem the vault of heaven. When day’s last hues decline ; As darker grows the even, With brighter ray they shine; Thus, in the night of years, When youth’s gay light is o’er, More bright the soul appears Than e’er it shone before. The leaves, when autumn blusters, Forsake the tree and die, But, falling, show rich clusters Of fruitage to the eye ; Thus time, in flying, snatches Thy beauty, but displays One charm that all o’ermatebes— A soul that ne’er decays. Muscogee Presentments. The Second Panel of tho Grand Jurors for the j Fall Term of Muscogee Superior Court, submit ! the following as the only Presentments they have to make: The first Panel have so fully noticed every sub ject at all important that we have but little, if anything to present. We cordially endorse and approvo the most of their Presentments, and earnestly hope that they may reoeivo the attention and respect to which their importance entitle them. We have to dissent in only one particular from tho Presentments of the First Panel. We do not think active members of the Fire Companies of the city should be held bound to servo as Jurors. We regard this Department as of large impor tance and value to the city, and we think that the labor, tho time, and the money expended by ! the active members of these Companies is at least j an equivalent for the services of the citizens as j Jurors. The Bridges in the County have been reported again and again as in bad condition. Ail of them are unsafe, and several of them are impassa ble. The Peggy Reid Bridge, and tho Bull Creek Bridge on the St. Mary’s Road, as also Randall’s Bridge on tho Upatoie, are in a condition to dis grace the country, and to endanger the lives of travelers. The public attention lias been so often j and to so little purpose, called to this subject that | Grand Jurors have learned to present tho griov- j ances only as a matter of form. We havo to thank his honor Judge Worrill, for j liis kindness to our body, as also to the Solicitor pro. tem., J. N. Ramsey, Esq., for bis politeness and attention. Wo request that these presentments bo publish ed in the city papers. ALEX. I. ROBISON, Foreman. James K Redd, Michael Barshal, | Edmard Barnard, Joseph II Daniel, i Reuben C Shorter, Moses Taylor, Richard P Spencer, William II Harris, Thomas J Shivers, Emory S Dennis, j James Rankin, Loronzo D Deaton, John S Allen, J M Falkenberry, i Wesley Sturkie, John McCarty, John T Walker, Charles P Dean, Ordered by the Court that those presents be j published as requested. A true extract from the Minutes of Muscogoe j Superior Court. November Term, ISSS. A. S. RUTHERFORD, Clerk. December 25, ISSB. ! LYON’S MAGNETIC POWDER AND PILLS. For ike Destruction of all kinds of Garden Insects , rfnts, i Bed Bugs, Roaches, Ticks,Fleas, Moths, Rats and ] Mice, <s*c. What greater trouble, in an hour of ease, Than gnawing rats, bed-bugs and tleas. Gardens can be preserved and houses rid of these I pests. It was discovered by Mr. E. Lyon, a French , Chemist, in Asia, and has been patronized by all Eas- i tern governments and colleges. Reference can be made j wherever the article has been tried. It is free from Poi- ‘ son, and harmless to mankind and domestic animals.— ! Many worthless imitations are advertised. Be sure it bears the name of E. LYON. Remember— ’Tis Lyon’s Powder kills insects in a trice, While’ Lyon’s Pills are mixed for rats and mice.
