Sales of Laud and Negroes, by Administrators,
Bxeoutors, and Guardians, are required by law to
be held on the first Tuosday in the month be
tween the hours often in the forenoon and three
in the afternooon, at the Court House in the coun
ty in which the property is situate. Notices of
the sale must be given in a public gazette forty
days previously to the day of sale.

THE CASKET BURIAL CASE, reprensent
ed by the above engraving, is beautifully fin
ished in imitation of polished Rosewood, and is
the most tasteful and appropriate metallic case
now used. It permits a view of the entire body
after it is enclosed, the top being composed of
thick plate glass, protected by elaborately orna
mented cape, one of which may be seen in its
place in the engraving. All sizes from 27* to <5
inches in leneth. constantly on hand.

Girard at 2p, m. daily, connecting at Silver Run
with a daily line of Stages to Villula, Glennvile, Eu

sion with the stages daily for Midway, and Hardaway.
Leaving Union Springs at 4 a. m. daily, the cars will
reach Girard at 7 a. m., connecting with the Opelika
and Muscogee Trains.
[O-Dupiicate receipts must accompany all Freight
Shipped.

BY an arrangement between the Railroad Companies
composing the two routes from Atlanta to Colum
bus, concluded at their convention at Savannah on tha
16th instant, it was agreed that the following rates
between Atlanta and Columbus shall govern, taking
effect from the Ist day oi May 1857.

ped over .the Mobile and Girard
Railroad, must have the name of the owner in full, to
gether with the initials of the consignee distinctly
marked on each bale, as the .agents have positive or
ders not to receipt for cotton .unless so marked, xin
brands will be furnished by any of the warehouses to
their custumers gratis. The liability of the Company
begins willi the date of the receipts and ceases when
the cotton is thrown oft'the cars at Girard. The liabil
ity on all goods ceases when they are ready for delive
ry at the station to which they are sent, as appears
from the subjoined resolution of the Board ol Direc
“Resolved, That when goods are delivered at th*
Agencies on this road where they are ordered, the lia
bility of the road for said goods ceases, and that they
are at the risk of their owners.”
No article of freight will be discharged untill all
charges on the whole bill are HOWARD
