The Opelika Era says—“from the best infor
ma ion we are in possession of, thirty six miles
of the Road will lie in this county, and from the
surveyor’s estimate of tie cost of the road, sup
posing this part of the Ruud to be an average,

ter, of Jan. 27:
Maj. Henry West, of this county, has finished
ginning his last year’s crop, cultivated on the
plantation on which he lives, and has made np-
I wards of two hundred bales of cotton of good
average weight, under one overseer, Mr. Spivey
Parish, and with only twenty-five bands ! Eight
biles to the band is nearly as good as cau be
[(lone in the West. This is, perhaps, the only
[farm that has ever made so much in one year, in
ITroup couuly, since its first settlement.
I Wc learn that a Mr. Estes wa3 murdered on
Tuesday evening last, below O’Neil’s mills, in
this county, by a man by the name of Watson.
Wo learn that a feud h id existed between them
previously, and that while Mr. Estes was in his
Kelil, Watson was passing by with a gun when E.
[remarked to him that i e h id understood that he
[intended “to send him to hell before t-aturday
Bight” Watson said “yes,” and thereupon shot
nun down. Watson fled, and has not been heard

forenoon.

were unanimously adopted:
Resolved, That this Board declare a Dividend
of Eigut per cent, in Stock to the holders of Gen
eral Stock as shown on the Books of this Corn} a

next, and issued on and after said date.
Resolved, That no certificate shall be issued
for less than a halt share, and that the difference
