THE DAILY TIMES,
THEE CITY.
Health of Macon. —We refer our readers,
says tbe Daily (Macon) Telegraph, to the Card
signed by his Honor, the Mayor, and and a host
of citizens of all professions. It will put down
the many false reports nowin circHlation respect
ing the Small Pox. We learn tuat tifty passen
gers from Montgomery, Ala., hating through
tickets, intended to pass through Macon, hut
when they reached Columbus they turned back
and took tho upper route, having heard there
were three hundred cases of Small Pox in our
city.
Another Mvstebiocs Mission. —Tho New !
York correspondent of tbe Charleston Mercury,
in a recent letter, writes :
The “K. G. C.'s” have positively started on
theij- mysterious mission to Mexico. About 500
men have left this city, by land and water, for
New Orleans, and equal or larger numbers from
Baltimore and Philadelphia. All the leading
Southern cities have contributed their quota of.j
gallant, fellows. If any gentlemen of a fiiibns- :
taring turn have left Charleston lately, you may i
be sure they are off with Gen. Bickley and the j
“K. G. C.’s.” The present movement is only the j
advance guard. More than 30,000 men are en j
rolled as members throughout the country, and at
least half of them are ready to travel as fast as 1
they can be taken to their enigmatical destination.
The telegraph says that 7500 men were assembled
in New Orleans, waiting for a steamship to Mexi
co. Those are the “K. G. C.’s;” but the tele
graph should have added about 1000 to tho num
ber. What the “K. G. C.’s” intend to do in
Mexico, it will be time enough for the public to
find out after it is done. Those who know have
a powerful motive for not telling. The profess
edly authentic exposures of certain newspapers
ure all humbug, and were intended to mislead,
either by the editors who belonged to the order or
by the knowing ones who hoaxed them. About
one-half of the members remain at homo, to fur
nish material aid, a ‘.tend to the getting off of ex
peditions, and manufacturing pul>lic sent’ment
when required. In this useful reserve are public
officers, editors, lawyers and capitalists.
Every Dollar. —Every dollar that is spent at
borne, in paying for some home-made article,
ins end of being sent to the North, is worth more
to Southern Independence, than a five-column
speech in Congress or the Legislature. Stop,
then, every dollar you can, from goin . North—
and when you find a man needle-ssly going,
North, to spend his .money among tur e; unties,
make a cross-mark against his name— bo may
he a candidate, some day. —Montgomery Mail.
Boundary Lise between Florida and
Georgia. —We arc gratified to see that the long
standing dispute in reference to this matter is in
train for an early and final adjustment. We
take the following, in relation to it, from the Tal
lahassee Floridian :
The two States interested in the Boundary
question have each passed a law declaring the
present line now being run by tho Commissioners,
shall be tho permanent boundary, without the
necessity of correcting back, provided that at the
eastern terminus the line does not miss Ellicott’s
Mound more than one-fourth of a mile. The
acts also of tho two States confirm the titles to
bona fide holders of such land as may fall either
in Georgia or Florida by this survey.
From the remarks of the Thomasvillo papers,
it seems that a very respectable slice of what has
heretofore been considered as Georgia territory
falls to Florida by the proposed line, with a
“right smart” sprinlling of Georgians. All
right. They are heartily welcome.
An Emperor’s Stables. —Louis Napoleon’s
stables in tho new Louvre aro described as some
thing marvellous. Accommodation has been pro
vided for ninety horses, with coach houses, a ri
ding school, and every necessary dependence.
The partitions of tho stalls are carved oak, and
the racks bronze, the mangers marble, and the
chains steel. The columns are covered with a
new kind of stucco, equal to marble for smooth
ness and polish.. In tho Cour Henri 111, there
is an iron staircase of very gentle slope, by which
the horses go up to the riding school, situated on
a level with the picture gallery.
Southern Pacific Railroad. —A letter from
Fort Buchanan, Arizona, of the 17th ult. says:
The new life infused into the Southern Pacific
railroad (through Texan) gives us reason to hope
for its completion to El Paso. If this is ;offected,
our California frends may rest assurred that the
first railrod across the continent will :j touch the
ocean at sorno other point than San Francisco.
This distance over an almost- level country to
salt water is only 600 miles, while to San Fran
cisco it is thirteen hundred. The route from
El Paso hither has to pass through some rough
country, but hence to Guaymas the country 7 is
almost a perfect level, requiring but little gra
ding and no bridging. Stranger things might
happen than that this road should be < xtended
through to the Gulf in less than five years. The
right of way can easily be obtained, and the
public land of Sonora appropriated to aid the
enterprise.
DAILY COMMERCIAL RECORD j
Columbia's, Feb. 4, ISOO
The receipts on yesterday amounted to GSB
bales, aud the sales to 7S bales. The limited ;
number of bales which changed hands shows
that but little enquiry was instituted: but tho few
lots sold went off at uuehanged prices.

[WINS BITTERS.
BECAUrt E for the cure of Incipient Consumption,
Weak Lungs, Weak Stomachs, General Debility,
! and for purifying and enriching the Blood, they are
absolutely unsurpassed by any other remedy. To be
assured of his, it is only necessary to make the trial.
The Wine itself is of a very superior quality—near
ly double ihe usual sirength ot other wines-warming
, and invigorating the whole system, from the h. ad to
the feet. As these Bitter* are tonic and alterative in
their character, so they strengthen and invigorate the
whole system, and give a
Fine Tone and Healthy Action }
j to all its parts, by equalizing the circulation, removing
i obstructions, and t raducing a general warmth.
They are also excellent for diseases and weakness
peculiar to Females, where atonic is required to
Strengthen and Erace the System.
No lady who is subject,.to lassitude or faintness
should be without them, and they are revivifying in
| their action.
Th- se Bitters will not only cure but prevent dis
j ease, and in this respect are doubly valuable to the
! person, sick or well, who may use them.
For proof of the truth of this, see full particulars
i and reference to persons cured on the circ ilar inside
the wapper, accompanying each bottle.
Ministers of the Gospel, Lawyers, Lecturers and all
public speakers shouftl use
IDr. J . I3ovee Docl’s
MftRSIJUL WIRE Bl ITERS,
WHY?
Because they strengthen the lungs, quiet and sooth
the nerves, promote digestion, strengthen and brace
the whole system. Aside from their metrical virtues,
they are unsurpassed as a delightful heverage, produ
cing all the exhilarating effects of Brandy or Wine,
without their injurious results. To that unfortunate
class ot individuals addicted to the use of Strong
Drink, these Bitters will prove invaluable, as they
prevent the sudden reaction which invariably follows
a “spree” and, acting as an alterative, remove from
the system tbe poison which is imbibed by all who
indulge in the use of the adulterated Liquors to be
found in most of the bar looms of this country. Ine
briates who wish to reform, aiid yet require a stimu
lent, by substituting these Bitters for the mixed wines
and liquors oi the drinking saloons, can in a short
time restrain entirely from the use of stimulants.
C3r"Try one bot'le and the bitters will tell their own
story.
