All Machines warranted.
The Grover A Hiker Company is one oftlie oldest
an i most guceessfulof the originators and directors
of the business. It entered the field at an early day,
when Sewing Machines weie almost in their first su-
their manufacture was more of an experi
ment than anything else. Step by stepit hasprogres
seri in thadevelop.nent of the trade and the perfect
ing of its Machines; taking advantage of all posi
bie improvements in the make, adaptation and modi
fication oftlie machinery, it has enjoyed the exclu
sive benefits of the inventive genius of one person of
the firm (Mr. William O. Grover) by which it has been
placed in possession of privileges and patents that
have give nils Machines peculiar andexciusive excel

The mechanism of the Biker Machine is
exceedingly simple, durable ami easily understood by
any person old or young; there is nothing in its man
agement that ihe simplest mind may not grasp, end
it is merely a question of time and memory with some
— most ladies will learn at once showing, whiieoth
ers will require two or three lessens; trequently we
see little Misses, only ten years of age, opt rating the
Machine on straight seams without assistance.
Families who are about to purchase, are repectfril

take the liberty cfsaying, it is better for you to pur

MANY, since tire great discovery of Prof. Wood,
have attempted not only to imitate his Restore
tive, but profess to have discovered something that
would produce results identical; but they have all
come and gone, being carried away by the wonderful
results of Prof. Wood’s preparation, and have been
forced to leave the field to its resi.-tless s« av. Read
the following:.
Bath, Ma ne, April 18th, 1859.
Prof. O. J. Wood & Co.—Gents.: The letter 1
wrote you in 1856 concerning your valuable Ilair
Restorative, and which you liaye published in this
vicinity and elsewhere, has gi*en rise to numerous
enquiries touching the facts in the case. The enqui-.
ries are, first, is it a fact of my habitation and name,
as staled in the communication; second, is it true of
all therein contained; third, does my hair still contin
ue to be in good order and of natural colorl To all
1 can and do answer invariably > es. My h»if is even
better than 111 any stage ofiuyliie for 40 years pa.-1
—more soft, thrifty and better colored; the same is
true of my whiskers, and the only cause why it is
not generally true, is that the substance is washed off
by frequent ablution of the face, when if care were j
used by wiping the face in close connection with the
wffiiskers, the same result will follow as the hair. J
have been in the receipt of a great number of letters
from all partsof New England; ask lire me if my hair
still continues to be good; as there is so much fraud
in the manufacture and sale of various compounds as
well as this, it has no doubt been base'y imitated and
been used, not oiilv without any good effect, Lett to
absolute injury. I have not used any ot yourlttssto
rative of any account for some months, and yet my
hair is as good as ever, and hundreds have examined
it with snsprise, as I am now 01 years old and not a
gray hair in my head or on my lace; and to prove
tliis fact, I sand you a lock of my hair taken off tire
past week. 1 received your tavor of two quart bot
tles last ummer, for which I am very grateful: I gave
it to my friends and thereby induced them to try it,
many were skeptical until after trial, and then pur
chased and used it with universal suecess. I will ask
as a favor that you send me a lest by wh eh I can
discover fraud in the Restorative, sold by many I fear
without authority from you. A pure article will in
sure success, aim I believe where good effects do not
follow, the failure is caused by the impure article,
which curses the inventor of the good I deem it my
duty as heretofore, to keep you apprised of the con
tinued effect on my hair, as I assure a!! who en
quire of me my unshaken opinion of its valuable re
sult*. I remain, dear sir, yours, Ac.
A. C. RAYMUND.

Prof. 0.. J. Wood, Dear Sir:—l would certainly he
doing you a great injustice not to make known to
the world, the wonderful, as well as the unexpected
result! have experienced from using one bottle of
your lliir,Re*toiatiye. After using every kind of
Restoratives extant, but wi.hout success, and finding
my head nearly destitute oi hair, 1 was dually indu
ced totry a bottle of your Hair Restorative. Now
candor and justice compel me to announce to'who
ever may read this, fiiat I now possess anew and
beautiful grow th of hair, which 1 pronounce richer
and fcandsomerthan the original’was: 1 will therefore
take occasion to recommend this invaluable remedy
to aft who may reel the necessity of it.
Respectfully yours.
