Forres er, dcvoted yesterday fitnioon to parade
and target practice. Marching, m-rr oeuvres and
tho u anuel of arms are nov performed by the
"Cad irt 1 ' wiih o promptness and dexteriiy which
much older companies might well tnvv, while
their target eaur ise t xbibiud no less proficiency
in the most essentia! art of the practical eoldi r.
Oi the 67 shots fire 133 struck the target.—

Best single shot Private Wardlaw. The whole

On their return from target practice a puotd
gra 4 h was taken of the Company in two
open order, by Mr. Wright. If Lincoln’s war
upon the South should last a year or two, we
predict for lhe Cadets a place in the picture.
The Jackson Avengers, Capt Bradford left
yesterday aiternoon on th - Macon ‘.ruin for Vir
ginia. We unders ami that one or two of the
officers remained and will follow tho Company
in a few days with stub recruits as may be wil
ling to j lin them on the field of fame. Such a
chance should not be lost.
Service will be held by Kev. Mr.
Wright tit Cainp Davis to morrow afternoon at
6 o'clock.
Withdrawal of Hon. John I. Moore.
We learn from our Montgomery exchanges
that the above gentleman has withdrawn from
the candidacy for the Governorsh p of Ala
baam. The only gentleman who is now a Can
didas for Governor in that State is Hon. John
Gilt Shorter.
Camp Davms, July 13, 1861.
Divine service will be held at this Cetap on
Sunday evening next at 6 o'clock, under the
ministration of the Rev. Mr. Wright of the
M. E. C urch. All members not on furlough,
ordotailed for other du y, aro respectfully re
