The proprietors and manufacturers of HOS TETTER’S CELEBRATED STOMACH BIT TERS can appeal with perfect confidence to physicians and citizens generally of the United States, because the article has attained a repu tation heretofore unknown. A few facts upon this point will speak more powerfully than volumes of bare assertion or blazoning puffery. The consumption of Hostetter’s Stomach Bit ters for the last year amounted to over a half million bottles, and from its manifest steady increase in times past, it is evident that (luring the coining year the consumption will reach near one million bot ties. This immense amount could never have been sold but for the rare medicinal properties contained in the prepara tion, mid the sanction of the most prominent physicians in those sections of the country where lhe article is best known, who not only recommend the Bitters to their patients, but are ready at all times to give testimonials to its efficacy in all cases of stomachic derangements and lhe diseases resulting therefrom. This is not a temporary popularity, obtained by extraordinary efforts in the way of trum peting the qualities of the Bitters, but a solid estimation of an invaluable medicine, which is destined to be as enduring ns time itself. Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters have proved a Godsend to regions where fever and ague and various other bilious complaints have counted their victims by hundreds. To be able to state confidently that the “Bitters” are a certain cure for the Dyspepsia and like diseases, is to the proprietors a source of un alloyed pleasure. It removes all morbid matter from the stomach, purifies the blood, and imparts renewed vitality (0 the nervous system, giving it that tone and energy indispensable for the restoration of health. It operates upon the stomach, liver, mid other digestive organs, mildly but. powerfully, mid soon restores them to acondition essential to the healthy discharge of the functions of nature. Elderly persons may use the Bitters daily as per directions on the bottle, nnd they will find in it a stimulant peculiarly adapted to comfort declining years, as it is pleasant, to the palate, invigorating to the bowels, excellent as a tonic, and rejuvenating generally. We have the evi dence of thousands of aged men and women who have experienced the benefit of using this preparation while suffering from stomach de rangementsand general debility; acting under the advice of physicians, they have abandoned all deleterious drugs and fairly tested the merits of this article. A few words to the gentler sex. There are certain periods when their cares arc so harassing that many of them sink under the trial. The relation of mother mid child is so absorbingly tender, that the mother, especially if she be young, is apt to forget her own health in her extreme anxiety for her infant. Should the period of maternity arrive during the summer season, the wear of body and miud is generally aggravated. Here, then, is a necessity for a stimulant to recupe rate the energies of the system, and enable the mother to bear up under her exhausting trials and responsibilities. Nursing mothers gene rally prefer the Bitters to all other invigora tors that receive the endorsement of physi cians, because it is agreeable to (he taste as well as certain to give a permanent increase of bodily strength. All t hose persons, to whom we have particu larly referred above, to wit: sufferers from fever and ague, caused by malaria, diarrhoea, dysentery, indigestion, loss of appetite, and all diseases or derangements of the stomach, superannuated invalids, persons of sedentary occupation, and nursing mothers, will consult their own physical welfare by giving to Hos tetter’s Celebrated Stomach Bitters a trial. CAUTION. —We caution the public against using any of the many imitations or counter feits, but ask for Hostetter’s Celebrated Stomach Bitters, and see that each bottle has tiie words “ Dr. J. Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters” blown on the side of tiie bottle, and stamped on tiie metallic cap covering the cork, and observe that our autograph signature is on the label. Being in the circulation, it pervades the whole body, and may burst out in disease on any part of it. No organ is free from its attacks, nor is there one which it may not destroy. The scrofu lous taint is variously caused by mercurial disease, low living, disordered or unhealthy food, impure air, filth and filthy habits, the depressing vices, and, above all, by the venereal infection. What ever be its origin, it is hereditary in the constitu tion, descending “ from parents to children unto the third and fourth generation indeed, it seems to be the rod of Him w:ho says, “ I will visit the iniquities of the fathers upon their children.” Its effects commence by deposition from the blood of corrupt or ulcerous matter, which, in the lungs, liver, and internal organs, is termed tuber cles ; in the glands, swellings; and on the surface, eruptions or sores. This foul corruption, which genders in the blood, depresses the energies of life, so that scrofulous constitutions not only suffer from scrofulous complaints, but they have far less power to withstand the attacks of other diseases; con sequently, vast numbers perish by disorders which, 1 although not scrofulous in their nature, are still ren dered fatal bj r this taint in the system. Most of the consumption which decimates the human family has its origin directly in this scrofulous contamina tion ; and many destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, brain, and, indeed, of all the organs, arise front or are aggravated by the same cause. One quarter of all our people are scrofulous J their persons are invaded by this lurking infection, and their health is undermined by it. To cleanse it from the system wo must renovate the blood by an alterative medicine, and invigorate it by | healthy food and exercise. Such a medic? W we supply in AYER’S Compound Extract of Sarsaparilla^. _ the most effectual remedy which the medical skill of our limos can devise for this every where pre vailing and fatal malady. It is combined from th® most active rcmedials that have been discovered for , the expurgation of this foul disorder from the blood, and the rescue of the system from its dcstructiv® consequences. Hence it should be employed for the cure of not only scrofula, but also those other affections which arise from it, such as Eruptivb and Ski.v Diseases, St. Anthony’s Fire, Rose, or Erysipelas, Pimples, Pustules, Blotches, Blains and Boils, Tumors, Tetter and Salt Rheum, Scald Head, Ringworm, Rheumatism, Syphilitic and Mfaicurial Diseases, Dropsy, Dyspepsia, Debility, and, indeed, all Complaints arising from Vitiated or Impure Blood. The popular belief in “ f/npio'Zri/o/’tAe fifood” is founded in truth, for scrofula is a degeneration of the blood. The particular purpose and virtue of this Sarsapa rilla is to purify and regenerate this vital fluid, J without which sound health is impossible in con taminated constitutions. Ayer’s Cathartic Pills, S FOR ALL THE PURPOSES OF A FAMILY PHYSIO, » are so composed that disease within the range of action can rarely withstand or evade them. Their pen etrating properties search, and cleanse, nnd invigorate every portion of the human organism, correcting its ’ Z'i; diseased action, and restoring its healthv vitalities. As a consequence of these properties, the'invalid who is bowed down with pain or physical debility is astonished ' ja to find his health or energy restored by a once so simple and inviting. Not only do they cure the every-day complaints of every body, but also many formidable and dangerous I* diseases. The agent below named is pleased to furnish gratis my American Almanac, containing certificates WR of their cures and directions for their use in the follow ing complaints: Costireness, Heartburn, Headache, arising from disordered stomach, Nausea, Indigestion, Pain in and Morbid Inaction of the Bowels, Flatulency, (H Loss of Appetite, Jaundice, and other kindred com plaints, arising from a low state of the body or obstruc tion of its functions. Ayer’s Cherry Pectoral, J roil THE RAPID CURE OF j Coughs, Colds, Influenza, Hoarseness, Crdup, | Bronchitis, Incipient Consumption, aiyl for O the relief of Consumptive Patients iu ad> S vanced stages of the disease. 9 So wide is the field of its usefulness and so numerous fl arc the cases of its cures, that almost every section of ■ fl country abounds in persons publicly known, who have W been restored from alarming and even desperate dis- . as eases of the lungs by its use. When once superiority over every other medicine of its kind is’tool* apparent to escape observation, and where its virtues are known, the public no longer hesitate what antidot® to employ for the distressing and dangerous affection® of the pulmonary organs that are incident to our*4F climate. While many inferior remedies thrust upon the community have failed and been discarded, this has fl gained friends by every trial, conferred benefits on the » afflicted they can never forget, and produced cures tnn WI numerous and too remarkable to be forgotten.
