MILE'S INCORPORATION. Horrible Suspicions Awakened in the Minds of Some Warry Politicians ON THE OTHER SIDE. Th?y Sea Danger in the Reid Bond Bill and They Think That There is a Plan on Foot. The probable effort to be made a: an early date to Incorporate Vineville as a separate town puts every ono interested tn the movement on the qui vive for de velopments. It was thought that when the legislature, killed the bill providing for the incorpora tion of Vineville, the matter had been sei tled. Hut no. A bill passed the legisla ture which exactly eov. ,cd Vineville's case and permitted the incorporation ot towns within a given dte.am-e of othi r towns to incorporate by a vote of a ma jority of the property owners. A horrible auspicion was then awakened in the sorus of thoae opposed to the Vineville in corporation that th< incorporate;had something to with that bill. Hur another bill that furnished food for reflection is the Reid bond bill, which pro vides for th<' Itruing and i<a.a>iziii> of mu nicipal bonds. The ostensible purpose <>i this bill is to take care of some of th. shaky bonds of tht past in some other city surely, for Macon's bonds are all solid. Hut an astute observer of men a;;d things and politic.; in general thinks that there is a cat in tin- meal tub. He I■ is studied out the situation and now he thinks it is possible that by careful work around Vineville a territory might be out lined there for the purposes of Incorpora tion which would leave out the element that would oppose incorporation -that is to say. the negroes and some of the work ing propio. an ! would ro nianag. it as to take in a majority of those favoring in corporation. Th< n und> r the Reid bond bill, bonds could issue for the town of Vineville and with these bonds the neces sary improvements could be put in. It is a very neat idea and will, of < ourse, set a number of people to thinking it over. At any tale, it is conceded that Vine ville will make the effort to incorporate before long. Chicago, dan. 4. —A set-to. with honors even between Robert Fitzsimmons, Jr., and Tess, the almost human chimpanzee, at the Zoo, was an impromptu perform ance. which interested spectators and em ployes yesterday. Papa Fitz placed his young hopeful in Tess' cage “just to see what the lad would do.” Tess, desiring to do the honors of the house, began fondling the boy. and pick ing at its dress. This Robert Jr., resent ed. Instinctively putting forward his left foot and holding his right guard low. he led with his left on the jaw. The blow lauded and Tess staggered back and sat down hard. She jumped and rushed at her opponent, and sunk her claws in Robert. Jr.’s left cheek. The boy landed several body blows, but could not break away. His father threw open the door and dragged him out. He was unwilling to come, and did not whimper when he saw the blood streaming down his face. TO INSTALL OFFICERS. Yonah Lodge Will Hold an Important Ses sion Next Friday Night. Hazl<: burst became second lieuten ant of the company, and today be is re ceiving congratulations upon securing his commission in the Georgia militia. Incidentailly it may be stated that the Volunteers are to be congratulated. There is no finer soldier in Georgia than Bob Hazlehurst. As private and on up through the ranks he has has shown his capacity for soldiering and made the mistake of his life when he choose the hum drum exist ence of the cotton buyer in preference to the army. However, in this the people of Georgia are the winners. *ad Lieutenant Bob Ha zlehurst is an acquisition to the ranks of the Macon Volunteers. FIFTY YEARS The Postman's Box Has Been in Use and it Has a History. Every afternoon those who go to the postoffice for tat ir mail see an old negro man with a large tin box with a strap at tached, and many curious glances are di rected at this box. apd not infrequently the old man is questioned as to what the box is used for. He will promptly tell you that the box has been in use lor the past, fifty year.- m carry mail from the postof fice to Wesleyan Female College, there be ing only two deliveries to that institution during the day. The box has an interesting history cov ering many years, an 1 the faculty would not part with the box for any amount. It is old and 'batten'd and bears every evi -1 nee of the long years of f- rvlce which :: hits bc«n through, but still it is prized •most highly. The box was made when Wesleyan was first organized, and since tha* time has '.wn in constant use. The figure of old ’ ' ■ Jim Means, as be went to and from the college for the mail is familiar to every resident of Macon. Hr carried the tn. il for the school over thirty years, and only rave it tip a few years ago on account of his feeble health rtsuiting from old age. The box will be put away as a relic and will be nwrabrrtt! by hundreds of alum nae of the old college who have waited with eager anticipation the coming of the mail. Perhaps a letter from laved ones at home or possibly from a sweetheart who had gained permission for his missives to t o straight threuirh. New York, Jan. 4.—A Washington dis patch says: Evangelina Cossie y Cisneros, the fair Cuban girl who was confined in Georgetown Convent, in 'this -city, against her inclination, left that institution yes terday. She managed to communicate with Henrique Macinas, son of a former minister to the United States from Guate mala. who is .living in this city with his mother. He has known 'Evangelina since she first came to Washington. When Henrique heard that Evangelina wi.sned to leave the convent his mother invited the girl to come to her house as a visitor for a few days. The convent authorities demurred, but when Henrique went over to the convent last evening and stated that he had come to escort Miss Cisneros to his mother’s house for a brief visit, the Sister Superior did not interpose serious objection. There is a hint of a romance back of this episode. Her departure from the con vent was something after the manner of her leaving Havana. ■ CONCERT TONIGHT By Members of the Frances Hughes Com pany at Wesleyan Chapel. During the Coming Session of Con gress—Ex-Congressman Tom Cabaniss Talks of Himself. Senator A. O. Bacon left last night for ' Washington and Congressman Bartlett ; leaves today. Both of these participants ’ in the battle royal pending in Washington, i for the session will bring out the fighting , qualities of the Democrats in both senate - and house, are ready for the fray. Senator Bacon says that he anticipates a somewhat blustery session. Congress man Bartlett says there is going to be I some very earnest work as well as some fun. Senator Bacon does not seem to be wor ; tied over the political situation down here, : and in fact rather shirks the sub’ect. So far a? Congressman Charley Bartlett is concerned, that very energetic repre : sentative cf the people of the S.xth di,s --' trict does net seem to worry at all over ! the outcome of the next election, ahd from I all accounts he has really no need to wor | ry. The reports from all over the district i indicate that he is pretty solid and that the man who beats him will have to do some tall hustling. Among the visitors to Macon today is I ex-Congressman T. B. Cabaniss. of For syth. Mr. Cabaniss smceeded Congress man Blount and served two terms in con gress for the Sixth. At the noted Indian Spring convention of 1892, he mc-t Con gressman Bartlett for the first time, and after a stubborn deadlock Mr. Cabaniss won. There are many among Mr. Caha niss’ former contituents who would be glad to see him back in the race for political honors in this state, but when asked as to the probability of such a thing, he laugh ingly said: “No, I am out of politics, except that I am a Democrat, and not a free silver Dem ocrat at that, for I have never changed my financal views. I never intend again to enter the political arena as a candidate, and, in fact I am behind on information on Georgia politics, having been absent from the state for so long a time.” THE HONOR ROLL. All of the plans for the building of the 'track 'have been perfected and all that remains to be done now is to get the club members interested and get them to go to work and get the required amount of money. CURE NERVOUS DYSPEPSIA INTERESTING EXPERIENCE OF AN INDI IN'AI’OLIS GENTLEMAN. To Gain Flesh, to Sleep Well, to Know What Appetite and Good Digestion Mean, Make a Test of Stuart’s Dyspepsia Tablets. No trouble Is more common or more mis understood than nervous dyspepsia. Peo ple having it think that their nerves are to blame and are surprised that they are not cured by nerve medicine and spring reme dies; the real seat of the mischief is lost sight of; the stomach is the organ to be looked after. Nervous dyspeptics often do not have any whatever in the stomach, nor perhaps any of the usual symptoms of stomach weakness. Nervous dyspepsia shows itself not in the stomach so much as in nearly every other organ; in some cases the heart palpitates and is irregular; in others the kidneys are affected; in ethers the bowels are constipated, with headache; still others are troubled with loss of flesh and appe tite, with accumulations of gas, sour ris ings and heartburn. Mr. A. W. Sharper, of No. 61 Prospect street, Indianapolis, Ind., writes as fol lows: “A motive of pure gratitude prompts me write these few lines regarding the new and valuable medicine, Stuart’s Dys pepsia Tablets. 1 have been a sufferer from nervous dyspepsia for the last four years: have used various patent medicines and other remedies without any favorable result. They sometimes gave temporary relief until the effects of the medicine wore off. I attributed this to my sedenta ry habits, being a bookkeeper with little physical exercise, but I am glad to state that the tablets have overcome all these obstacles, for I have gained in flesh, sleep better and am better in every way. The above is written not for notoriety, but is based on actual fact. Respectfully yours, “A, W. Sharper. “61 Prospect St,, Indianapolis, Ind.” It is safe to say that Stuart’s Dyspepsia Tablets will cure any stomach weakness or disease except cancer of stomach. They cure sour stomach, gas. loss of flesh and appetite, sleeplessness, palpitation, heart burn, constipation and headache. Banker Henry Clews Foreshadows Events of the Year. New York. Jan. 4 —Broker Henry Clews makis preffictions as to what .the new year will bring forth, as follows: “I predict the four great nations of Eu rope will succeed in getting a strong foot hold in China without a war and J.iat they will become as strongly entrenched in that country as they are now in Africa, and that the United States, under her treaty rig+sts, will immensely prefit thereby with out grabbing any Chinese soil. The fam ous Chinese wall will have to come down. “This will make the twentieth century famous over our previous ones. T'he ming ling of the 400,000,000 of the Caincse race with all the other races will in time bring the Celestials within the pale of civiliza tion and get them out of their present antique groove. “The Cuban disturbance will finally ter minate in favor of the present proposed new government for the island. “The government of the city of New York will doubtless result satisfactorily, as the mayor and all offkx-holders appoint ed under the Tammany regime will be subject, under vae surroandmg •circum stances. to an X-ray scrutiny which will compel good behavior and moderate taxes. “I anticipate for this country the largest and most prosperous spring trade on re cord. which will redound to the benefit of Wall street. The railroads of this country will especially prosper under their new departure cf eeoncffiy, combined with effi cien.y cf semi -e and the maintenance cf their high standard. “The McKinley administration, judging from what it has already accomplished, will al vay s be men'craibie foe its conser vativeness, its dignity, its patriotic spirit and de prosperity it has brought to the Nation. “An international! treaty with England, viniting the English-speaking races in a bond of mutual love and trust, slhouli close .he record of the M Kinley admin's traticn red bring the century to a glori ous close.” FISH CATCH. English Capitalists Form the Latest Com bine to Make Money. Chicago, Jan. 4.—The contracts for a $5,000,000 combination of at least a score of the great corporations which catch the fish of the great lakes received the official stamp of the British cosulate in Chicago yesterday. English capitalists are behind the trust. The combination will control the fish output of Lakes Michigan, Supe rior, Huron, Erie, Ontario and Winnipeg and the hundreds of smaller bodies of wa ter in the West. It will dominate the manufacture of every fishing net on the Western Hemis phere. It has, as a preliminary, acquired ownership of every net now on the lakes. The headquarters will be in America, but English money will run the concern. It will establish cold storage plants in New York, Buffalo, Erie, Cleveland, San dusky. Toledo, Detroit, Chicago, Milwau kee, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Pittsburg, St. Paul. Minneapolis, Duluth, Kansas City, St. Louis and Denver. Freezing plants will be put at all stations on the great lakes and on Lake Winnipeg, Can ada. OHBIII WW To Any Reliable Man.
