Y description. It is
’ ' J Doctor Pierce’s
G- iden Medical
Discovery. Thousands of corpulent people
who need this medicine ha e failed to take
it because of its world wide reputation a* a
blood maker and flesh-builder. They im
agine because it has an establish’d reputa
tion for building up the flesh and strength
ening emaciated people, that it will make
corpulent people more corpulent. This is
a misconception The ‘'Golden Medical
Discovery” builds firm, healthy flesh but
does not raise the weight above a natural
normal figure. Unlike cod liver oil. it
does not make soft, flabby flesh. It builds
solid, healthy flesh but tears down and ex
cretes the weak, half-dead tissues that con
stitute corpulency. It mak< s the appetite
keen, the digestion perfect, the liver active,
the blood pure and the nerves steady. It
cures all blood and skin diseases. An
honest dealer will not offer a worthless sub
stitute for the sake of extra profit.
“ 1 got a cancer on my tongue and had it cut

heal Now such lacerations heal themselves."
Cure always. Gripe never. Doctor
Pierce’s Fie sant Pellets for constipation
and biliousness. Constipation is the cause
of many diseases. Cure the cause and you
cure the disease. One “ Pellet ”is a gentle
laxative, and two a mild cathartic. Tn

TREES PEELED,
A Novei Industry in Indiana for the Drug
Trade.
Wabash, Ind.. April 22—A new Industry
is being carried on’in this and Hunting
ton counties. Forty men have arrived from
Hillsdale, Mich., and are engaged in peel
ing hundreds of red elm trees. The trees
were bought by Charles Stearns, of Hills
dale. After the rough exterior is removed
the underbark is cut into strips two feet
in length and stacked in the woods until
thoroughly dry and then shipped to chem
iste, who grind it and sell it to the drug
trade the world over. Stearns has bought
1200 trees, and will cut 50 tons of bark.
This must be taken while the sap is run
ning. The naked trees are turned back to
the farmers who sell them.
BEWARE OF OINTMENTS FOR CA
’ TARRH THAT CONTAIN MERCURY.
As mercury will surely destroy the sense
of smell and completely derange the whole
system when entering it through the mu
cous surfaces. Such articles should never
be used except on prescriptions from rep
utable physisians, as the damage they will
do is ten fold to the good you can possibly
derive from them. Hall’s Catarrh Cure,
manufactured by F. J. Cheney & Co., To
ledo, 0., contains no mercury, and is taken
internally, acting directly upon the blood
and mucous surfaces of the system. In
buying Hall’s Catarrh Cure be sure you get
the genuine. It Is taken internally, and
made in Toledo. Ohio, by F. J. Cheney &
Co. Testimonials free.

Wall street.
Slocks rose and fell with ea:i succeed

lost.
The day after the explosion the “pulse
of trade” finance was hardly disturbed.
Stocks opened with only small losses. Day
aft-- day apprehension became greater.
Stocks, however, gradually slumped as the
finding of -fie Board of Inquiry was fore
asted. The decline was general. Amer
ican Tobacco Company’s stock (“the
trust”) is about the only active industrial
that is selling at a price above that of
February 15. Monday it soli around 100.
’■ ’old S points below this figure on Feb
ruary 16.
March 15 sugar sold at 138. The next day
it sold 1 poiEt lower, but now sells around
117. Burlington, before the explosion, sold
at 102. It now sells around 92. Manhat
tan, now around 95. sold then at 117. St.
Paul sells at SS, but the day after the ex
plosion it sold at 9’%. Other stocks' are
down in proportion.
In March when war cipuds commenced
N >-
vember 8. 1597, stocks were -mnsidered ex
tremely low, when 12 active industrial
stocks, averaged, touched 45.65 points and
2° active railroad stocks touched 57.45
points.
On Friday. March 25, the industrial
stocks averaged 42 points and the railroad
snares 56.08 points. There has been a re
covery since then. Tobacco’s boon brought
the average industrial price up to 46.32
prints on Tuesday. A.pril 12. The railroad
stocks on March SO averaged 20.61 points.
Toe industrials of 'Ttlay average nearer
44 points, and .the railroads 57 points. This
average is based upon 32 of the most ac
tive of New York stocks.

For Three Years He Suffered Cou’d
Hardly Breathe at Wight—One Nostril
Closed for Ten Years.
Mr. A. M. Ramsey, of De Leon, Texas,
was a sufferer from Catarrh in its
worst form. Truly, his description of
his sufferings seem little short of mar
velous. Instead of seeking his couch,
glad for the night's coming, he went t-o
it with terror, realizing that another
long, weary, wakeful night and a
struggle to breathe was before him.

Messrs. Lip-tman Bros., Savannah, Ga.,
Gents: I have usvd nearly four bottles of
P. P. P. I was afflicted from the crown of mv
head to the soles of my feet. Your P. P. I s .
has cured my difficulty of breathing, smother
ing, palpitation of the heart, and has relieved
me of all pain. One nostril was closed for
ten years, but now I can breathe through it
readily.
I have not slept on either side for two years:
in fact, I dreaded to see night come. Now I
sleep soundly in any position all night.
I am 50 years old, but expect soon to be able
to take hold of the plow handles. I feel glad
that I was lucky enough to get P. P. P., and I
heartily recommend it to my friends and the
public generally.
Yours respectful!v,
