Phone 8 19 SHERMAN HOAR Died Last Night of Typhoid Fever Caught in Camps. By Associated Prcr-?. Concord, Mass., Oct. 8. —Hon. Sherman Hoar, after an illness of three ue*ks, died last night at his home on Main street. Ty phoid fever, contracted while making a tour of the Southern camjs as agent of the Massachusetts Volunteer Association, was the cause of his death. At a late hour no arrangements for the funeral had been made. I Sherman Hoar was born in Concord in .July, 1860. He entered Harvard and in ISB2 was graduated with honors. After two years in the Harvard law school he was admitted to '.he Middlesex bar in 1835. He began j-.j s practice in Waltham, Ma*s.. and tvo years later entered the law firm of Story. Thorndike & Hoar, Bos'cn. In 1890 be was elected to congress by the Drma cri.‘« At the exp ration cf hi? term a. Washington he was apointed district attor ney for the Boston district by President Cleveland. Outside of his own town where for years he held important positions of trust, he was a director of the American Unitarian Society and a member of the board of trustees of Philips-Exeter Acad emy. o -A.
