Perhaps oaths should be recorded in a

Kick a stiff bat with a brick under it
and it’s felt.

A white tie is not out of place at a
colored wedding.
Stump speeches are often full of daring
remarks.
The canal's flowing locks are not al
ways at the head.
Few carpets are so good that they can
not be beaten.
The thin man does not object to sleeping
in a spare bed.
The hairbrush and comb are frequently
overworked. »
The actors who plays in doubt cannot
be caled a trump.
Eyc-d people who consider golf a good
game take a stick to it.
The dancing master does his best work
in the hop districts.
Seems as if “Tramp, tramp, tramp,”
must be a rag-time song.
With a sawmill at its mouth 'the river
has wheels in its head.
To take the measure of baseball teams

The man whose income is short doesn't
seem to get along.
Artificial teeth do not necessarily give
a single false set o’ tones.
It is not always the intemperate lawyer
who smiles at the bar.
They who make money their religion

It now' seems that ’Col. Ray’s regiment

along.
The peace commission is not getting
along smoothly in Paris. Possibly Com
modore Watson’s flying squadron should
be started out again for the shores of
Spain. A few war ships would make
things run much smoother.
The Mississippi method is very heroic.
The negroes are becoming panic stricken.
When a stranger is suspected of having

METHODIST PROTESTANTS
Celebrate the Anniversary of Their Secession
on November 12.
Methodist Protestants are to keep gen
erally November 12, since it is the sev
entieth anniversary of the da’e on which
seceders from the Methodist Episcopal
church met in Baltimore and formed what
they called the Associated Methodist
churches, but which have since come to be
known as Methodist Protestants. The
principal celebration will occur in Balti
more and will engage all of the men
prominent in the communion. The cause
cf the division from the Methodist Episco
