Georgia and Vanderbilt promises to be
one of the most exciting and stubbornly
contested games ever played in the South.
Both teams are in excellent condition and
know the game thoroughly.
The Georgia eleven has put up a beauti
ful practice this week, the finest overseen
on .the athletic field. All the men are do
ing their utmost to .make the University
have a winning team, and it is safe to say
that such has been ac eomplished.
Captain Walden, the star player in the
Virginia game last yes r, is holding down
his old position of left tackle. Walden has
not yet found his superior. He plays a
steady, gritty game, and seldom falls to
make a gain.
Ritchie plays right tac) de. He has done
brill '.ant work during the past week and
will undoubtedly be heard from in the
game- Saturday.
Thi washer, the 210 pound giant who is
the J.nest addition to the team, is a won
der. He breaks through the line at his
pleasure. H< is new at the game but has
impro ved r emarkably and now is consid
ered one 'of the strongest men on the
team.
Lindsey , who plays left guard, is doing
fine work and will show up well in the
game.
Shanno n plays center and is a strong
addition to the team. He was substitute
last yetu .
The « ids will be played by Mclntosh
and Met utcheou on defensive, and by
y dußigno i and Heidt on offensive. All of
n these pk ly€r s have shown great ability in
breaking up the Interference and downing

d Mcln.fi. ish, who plays left half on offen

e team.. He has done brilliant work this
year a.t» d plays a strong and steady game.
’• iMoCw tcheon and Cox will play right
’ half. Bk ith of these players are among the
i, best, ua the team and are fast runners.
f Unff„ the quarter back, is one of the

3 me.’jt t his year has shown up splendidly.
nj ' ntsi this year has shown up splendidly,

“ Jon es needs no criticism. He is well
‘ f knowi t on account of the brilliant game
|f he ply .y< d last year and is in fine condi

, bucks the line like a cannon ball.
r Geor. ?ia’s hopes are great for a victory.
- Each n xn on the team is determined to do

it will mot be from lack of spirit if she

Athens, Ga.. Oct- 27—The football game
to be played in Atlanta Saturday between
under penalty of discussion, to visit the
theatre, while approving of the circus as
• “the theatre of childhood, where the priest
goes as the guide of children.” was deem
ed of sufficient importance to be cabled
at length to the New York Sun. and has
aroused much discussion in both religious
and amusement circles. ‘‘The position as
sumed by Cardinal Richard,” says the
general press agent of the Great Fore
paugh and Sells Brothers’ Consolidated
Shows, “is largely due to the indisputable
fact that the performances given in the
greater circuses are on a much higher and
purer plane than many of those tolerated
on the stage today. Expressions, inci
dents and exposures common on the stage
would be hissed from the ring, and no re
sponsible circus manager would dare to
introduce vulgarity or demoralizing sug
gestiveness in either word or action.
Through the liberal introduction of fairy
land pageantry, harmless fun, amusing
animal antics and performances, and other
features best suited to childish desires
and comprehension, the circus, as Cardi
nal Richard maintains, has become ‘the
theatre of childhood,’ and thousands of
parents, never seen at the playhouses, go
there as the guide of their little ones, and
to heartily participate in their enjoy
ment.”
