Tomorrow afternoon the football team from the University of Georgia 'will do battle with the team from the University of North Carolina. It will be the first game of football be tween the prominent eollejlfcs in the South thrft has ever taken place in Macon and the whole city is aroused over the game. Both of the teams are old rivals and each will etrive to out do the other. North Carolina has won two games from Georgia while Georgia has only taken one from the "Tar Heels.” The Georgia boys will have to win tomorrow ’s game to even things up. The winning team will be the chainpion of th<> South and this fact alone will draw many people to see contest. The game has been much talked of for the past week and the public is very much interested. Macon society will <be out in full force. ®OHI> i III h FULL BACK JONES. Many traps have been engaged for the oc casion and already the decorations are 'be ing put. on. Red and black will be the fa vorite colors at the park tomorrow as they are the colors of the Georgia team. Yet many people will wear white and blue, the colors of the Carolinians. The sponsors for the. two teams have ■been selected. They are among Macon's most beautiful young ladies and both teams will be highly honored by their presence. The sponsors for the Georgia team are 'Miss Florence Glenn and iMiss Nell Collins. They will be accompanied by 'Mr. 'Monroe Ogden and Mr. Felton Hatcher. The sponsors for the Carolina team are Miss Mftmey Hatcher and .Miss Ida Mangham. They will be accompanied by Mr. Winship Cabaniss and Mr. iB. F. Barden. The Mercer men say that they can’t stand by and see the “Tar Heels" play against Georgia, and not “root" for Georgia. They "rooted" for them at the Vanderbilt game and it brought ttye two colleges closer together than they have ever been 'before. When the two teams line up next Sat urday the Athens team will see many yards of red and black waving to the breeze and that the iMacon people will he with’them. North Carolina also has many warm supporters in the city and they will do the “rooting” for their team. The Georgia team this year is the strongest team that has ever represented the University on the gridiron. Their line men are the heaviest that have ever play ed on the team. The line this year is im pregnable and the Vanderbilt players found it Impossible to gain through it. The record of the two teams this year is even. Each team having won four games. The Carolinians hyye not met any strong teams this year and Georgia's vic- wiOK Ik Z4ii| M BEhI X ' . HALF BACK MTNTOSH. Cory over Vanderbilt jives them a little advantage. Among Georgia's prominent players are: Jones, full back; Huff, quar ter back; Mclntoeh. half back; McCutch eon, half back, and dußignon, right end. The Georgia boys are depending largely on Jones' foot to win the game. His punting is remarkable and he has no equal In the South. The officials of the game will be Taylor, of Yale, referee, and Connell, of Vander bilt, umpire. Manager Pomeroy, of the Athens team in the city last night and has been hard at work all during the day arranging for the game. Washington, Nov. 11 —‘An, encouraging sign for the 'future as far as prospects of continued peace are concerned, is the re port of the state department from United States Consular Agent Mertens, at Grao, on trade conditions in eastern Spain. He says that commercial affairs are in a more promising condition, business ac tivity is noticeable and confidence seems to be restored. A signal fact noted by the consular agent is the abolition by the Spanish gov ernment of the war tax of 2% per cent, on exports. The effect of that tax was only to hamper trade without any special -benefit to the treasury. The returns of exports for September in dicated this greater activity and as the export tax is collected on these goods, hopes for Improvement in the shipping trade during the coming season is well founded. Heavy shipments of Spanish onions are reported, including 40,000 crates and as these are packed entirely for the American market, Mr. Mertens says it is a pity that they could not be shipped direct as the transhipments by England must have in creased the cost of this vegetable. He sees a large opening for American exports in Spain again particularly tobacco, petro leum and staves. DISCOVERED YB A WOMAN. Another great discovery has been made, and that, too, by a lady in this country. “Disease fastened its clutches upon her and for seven years she withstood its se verest tests, but her vital organs were undermined and death seemed imminent. For three months she coughed incessantly and could not sleep. She finally discov ered away to recovery, by purchasing of us a bottle of Dr. King’s New Discovery for Consumption, and was so much re lieved on taking the first dose that she slept all night, and with two bottles has been absolutely cured. Her name is Mrs. Luther Lutz.” Thus writes W. C. Ham nik & Co., of Shelby. N. C. Trial bottles free at H. J. Lamar & Sons' drug store. Regular size, 50c and SI.OO. Every bottle guaranteed. Well, watch them hereafter, and. the first grum looking countenance you come across, just direct the party to Dr. West, at the theatre. , While some of these ambitious universi ties are looking around for the learned to i confer the degree of L.L. D. upon them, ■the public is honoring William H. West with the degree of “Dr. of Human Happi ' ness.” For years Mr. West has worked assiduously to bring pleasure to the care ‘ worn and pleasure-seekers of this country, and that he has succeeded is abundantly demonstrated by the succession of tri umphs with which he has enjoyed for years and more than ever now that he has •gathered together an all star cast to en tertain his patrons. When 'West comes to town the people are happier; the skit’s aro clearer; the sun is brighter; the air is purer; w’orry is forgotten, and all find more pleasure in life. When West comes to town doctors com plain of lack of practice; druggists sell only cigars, soda water and antidotes for hysteria. When West comes to town 'wives are sweeter to their husbands; husbands are kinder to their wives; children love their parents better; sweethearts are more nu merous ; marriages are more frequent; and all the town seems happy. ■When West comes to town policemen, like Othello, find their “occupation’s gone” and -have to follow the crowds to West’s performance to arrest their out bursts of laughetr. When West conges to town he will bring his world-renowned specialties, who cure by their magnetism. He well knows the ills that flesh is heir to, and from his chair of physics in his university of Mirth, with the graceful wave of his wand, he presents each of his physicians, who pro ceed to rejuvernate the old and make all hearts happy again. Dr. Carroll Johnson, whose fame as a specialist in the cure of the blues, compounds the first dose of spontaneous laughter, followed by Dr. Tom Lewis, who takes pleasure in giving freely of his effervescing compound of elixir of life for special cases of that “tired feel ing.” He claims never to have lost his “Patience” in treating this class of suf ferers. Dr. William Earnest has an ex ceptionally good cure for dyspepsia in his amusing dialogue and catchy songs. Dr. 'Clement Stewart, with his famous tenor voice, soothes every pain; the great Jose, whose voice is the sweetest ever heard, lulls all into a state of supreme happiness; while Dr. West finishes the reatment by offering some sothing syrup of patriotism in his spectaclaeular production of “Re- ■ member the Maine.” When West comes to town society peo ' pie stop entertaining, and rush to see West’s Minstrels, where they enjoy an evening of laughter, and the formal smile , is entirely forgotten. When West comes to town he will pre sent his all star cast in the most enter- > taining, the most gorgeous, the most ele i gant minstrel -performance ever given in • America, and this is saying a good deal, ' when the public remember what Mr. West has given them before when he was the ' leading spirit in his former company of “Primrose and West.” C-A.
