IB BEJXPELLED
Seven Members of the East
Macon Baptist Church,
UNLESS THEI APOLOGIZE
For Voting the Anti-Prohibition
Ticket at the Recent County
Election.
It i« more than likely that seven mem
bers of the East Macon Baptist church
will be turned out of the church at the
meeting of the conference toi/ight unless
4hey apologize for voting the anti-prohibi
tion ticket at the recent election.
The matter was kept quiet for some
time, but this morning it leaked out and
there is a great deal of talk about the
matter. The regular conference was held
last Thursday night and the matter was
brought up. It was decided at the meet
ing to summon seven of the members and
cause them to show why they had voted
the anti-prohibition ticket on December
Ist.
The meeting will be held at the church
tonight and it is said unless the members
apologize that they will be expelled from
the church. Mr. Robert T. Jones, the
treasurer of the church, in speaking of
the matter this morning said: “The mem
bers have been summoned for the purpose
of asking them why they voted the anti
ticket on the day of election and if they
do not tell why they voted the ticket and
beg forgiveness from the church they will
be turned out.”
Mr. Jones refused to give the names of
the parties summoned to appear. The out
come of the meeting will be watched with
interest as it is said that more people will
be summoned at the next meeting on the
unit charge.
