A gown equally suitable for a slender or
plump figure is one which is composed of
double skirt and a jacket, the latter having
a long coat effect in the back. TJte under
s is scant and close fitting at the top.
In / flares at the hem, The cloth on ue
lower skirt extends only to the point where
i' meets the over-skirt. This follows the
smooth outlines of the principal skirt, and
closes in the back, all the fulness being
turned in smoothly on both sides of the
placket, beneath which it spreads in fan
like pleats. The ease is of severe but ele
gant outlines, and may be trimmed to
please the taste of the individual. In the
present instance the garniture consists of
list bands of satin antique, slightly padded,
machine stitched closely along both edges,
and are further defined by narrow soutache
raid. The high collar i* cut with the coat
and heart, it is honed* but the frequency
of their Sunday absences arouses doubt.”
