The State of Georgia, by the adap tation'of climaW Add soil to the' pio- duct of the great staple, has been, heretofore, necessarily an..agriCi)hqrol district. This was true also of the en* tiro South. A system of labor entail* ed upon ns by our ancestor! made it ■o. ... The .manufac. ng of .the raw material at home saves'iuioiiie Waste ol 15 percent., and turns it to domestic accounts. Mqaitfoeti^ngjat hime for the for eign market adds two-thirds to the value the bulk; --Hence, one bale of cotton thus liianufacluieil is worth three of the raw cotton, say equal to *300. The crop cf *500,000 baleB manufac tured in Georgia, less 1C per cent, waste is 425^000 .bales manufactured products, equal to &300 per bale, which ia tqiial to the aggregate sum ol *137,500,000. This, then stands iagainst thp snm of *59,000,000, the vulu! of 500,000 bales sold in the raw state. There is, therefore, a balance in fa* vor of the country of *87,500,000 pro duced by converting the raw cotton -ipto a manufactured article. Add to fiia the stun of *145,000 paid on the waste when shipped and saved by manufacturing at home. Add also thefvalue of the waste saved and used at home, by estimate *100,000, and you have the aum $87,775,000 made sad saved to the country by manufac turing the ruw material. Hence it is perceived that you return to the pro ducers the value of their raw material, as iu case of sale mid shipment, aud nearly double that sum to them aud their country iu the proceeds cf the ■al* of the manufactured goods. This i to them or to the State, in iin- or iu specie, being that much er aud above what is now received and that is an annual result. Great and intetesting us this may em to the planters, the results of the country financially, politically and so- cially, are grand beyond any ordinary conception. The gains of ihe cotton planter op tho orop of this year will probably be equal to *10,250,000. Four parts bl this, say $500,000, may, without in convenience, be appropriated to the purchase oi those localities, and will be sufficient, when added to ihiity- five factories now in operation, to spin —i, annually, the coftoh crop of Gpory _ s. There will then be annually *9,000,000 in thehanda of planters for tho erection and operating these fac tories to be erected at the several 1 lo calities referred to.
