h\tifvf A lining A'fir*: Please allow me space
in your paper to return my thauka to the
good people of Albany andcurroundiug coun
try for their liberal patronage during the last
summer in my ice business.
It was my purpose to establish a perma
nent fish and oyster market in Albany, but
find it impracticable, as so many hare en-
gaged in the fish trade the dirided patronage
fails to justify me in longer. attempting to
keep it up. I, therefore, leere the ield to
those who mingle fish end calico, oysters and
groceries, and the illimitable rariety of mer
chantable erticles on the tame shelves in the
same conglomerated “general assortment."
I regret that any should hare been so ma
licious, or so greedy for patronage as to cir
culate a report that I was selling spoilt oys
ters. I certainly have not done so to my
knowledge, and no truthful man or woman
can say so, or charge me with ever haring
given short weight or measure.
My los9ca on oysters have been considera
ble, but it was my desire to keep up the bus
iness for the accommodation of the kind
friends who hare so liberally patronised my
ice house, and hence 1 have run the business
longer than my own interesta justified.
I shall continue the ice business, but my
house is now undergoing repairs, and there
will he no ice till further notice.
Respectfully,
H. Scarborough.

people were foolish enough to believe, from
