The extract below wax taken from a Geor

Ohio aud Indiana elections.
AN SLXCTION DOOOX.
“Tho following item, cooked up in New
York, is going the rounds of the pi cas.
Private adviocs from Germany s.iy there
is considerable uneasiness because of recent
declarations of two Elates in favor of redeem
ing United States bonds in greenbacks, in
stead of coin.
Any body who recollects that an impor
tant election will take place in New York
Stale, on November 3d, will see at once that
this is an electioneering dodge to ecare the
bondholders into voting against tho Demo
cratic ticket. It is a .cry, very thin picoe of
strategy and neod not deceive a wary per
son. If the Radicals can get np a real pauic
by such a device, much harm may bo done to
the Democracy.”
Tho writer of the abovo is a Georgia Dem
ocrat who doubtless said just what he thought,
and his idea ns to the effect of this dodge
upon New York bondholders, was probably
quite correct, nnd they no doubt voted against
the Democratic tickot. Among no other class
of tho community could a panic on that sub
ject have been created. If he is also correct
in what would be inferred from his article-
that the redemption of United Slates bonds
in greenbacks is a determined measure with
tho Democratic party, should they come into
power, a% one of that party, I am truly grat
ified to know it; and so will tho producing
