Jp, conclusion permit me to say
Messrs. Editors, as the tax receiver*
are just beginning their work of tak
ing returns of property for taxation
for this year, that it is the duty of ev
ery citizen, rich or poor, high and
low, to make a correct return of all
his in- her. property, including real es
tatcin the city as well as in the conn
fry and wild lands as well as imprnr-

‘ ing apil reducing taxation. ’
Ifall persons would makna fair and
correct return of all their property
the aggregate returns would double,
and rate of tax decrease one-half.

Farmers write for your paper. Tlie
followiug from the Rural World ex

“Horace Greeley, of Uie New York
Tribune, (luring his lifetime wrote
ouc thousand pages of what he kticw
about, farming, and he did not work
on a farm either. Greeley was our
sort of a man. He was willing to help
all he could, and lie was honest in
wlint he did; nnd if farmers wlm
work iu the field would only give the
benefit of their information through
the journals they would do a great
deal that would please us all. No one
cares anything about fine writing in
stu-h cases. What we wunt is plain,
common sense statements. AVe would
all know more about common sens
farming than we do if farmers would
help each other in this way, and our
paper would be far more interesting
and Instructive in that case. No man
ran know half enough lo instruct hi
class in everything pertaining to :
farmer’s life. Every farmer lias dis
covered and found out something in
his experience on a farm that his
neighbor does not know, that would
he of benefit to him if he did know
