During the forenoon of Wednesday,

plea'tire to say that the training of all
classes in the difl’erciit branches
*f study was satisfactory in an emi-

Idghcr branches of Mathematics were
s complete ami thorough as we have
ver beard. ‘The teachers and man

merit tin* warmest praise for their
labors in this noble enterprise.
The good people of Albany iimv
well congratulate themselves that
they have in their midst a male school,
the many excellencies of which can
not be surpassed. Messrs. Clieves and
Lee are 1 borough teachers, and we are
itislied, from what we have seen of
this examination, that all pupils cu-
irusicd to their admirable training
w ill be guaranteed a thorough and
omplflc education. It must have
•ecu gratifying to the patrons to wit

hibited by the classes in often solving
iml explaining the mo-t obstruse and

that the examination in every branch

that could be de-ired.

KihtokhXkws—We are about .con
firmed ill the belief that w*e arc now
having a sufficiency if not a supera
bundance of rain. All the grist inill-
that have been previously suspended,:
are now in active operation. The
thirsty earth has quaffed to its utmost
capacity. The grass on the commons
is luxuriant, (and, indeed, some in the
cultivated fields is contending for *.ii-
premacy), cattle, sheep mid hogs are
rusticating aud feasting on the choic
est bulbs aud grasses, refreshed and
rejuvitiated by the lule rain*. The
ponds and lagoons are all full, atfonl-
big good and wholesome stock-water.
The farmer mounts his pcgaai, and
hies to the village aud brfa lie'll lu.-tkc
12, 15, or 2D bushels corn to the acre,
and you can ju t guess by his pleas
ant countenance that In* has iio idea
of robbing the truth, hut w ill tell you
he will double lltc het and raise it
live or six bushels to the acre if it w ill
just stop raining now ami another i
season come in ten days. And as for i
cotton, we have not heard of any one I
desponding, the calculations arc I.»fiy, j
and the weed is a blooming, proinis- .
ing youth. The sweet potato** crop
is receiving a great deal of attention
in this vicinity, ami the seas**u has ’
been mi propitious that every peice
of available laud has been laid down J
in slips ami vine* until that couiiuoil-1
ity has now become quite a scarcity. |
Garden vegetation that was literally j
scorched up by the unprecedented
drouth, is now putting on new life,
and our hopes glow afresh at the]
thought of longer feasting upon th.*|
fruits thereof. The blackberry crop j
is abundant, ami we occasionally lie!. |

Huckleberries plentiful, ami serve a
a palatable adjunct to the blackberry .

have lied a rainy day or so too much,
that the lauds have been washed
that “flooded cum” has been thrown
down, that the winged wind- have
