Cure fur Hog Cliolern.
Mr. Editor:—You will liml en-
i-losetl a recipe which I nut convinced
is a sovereign remedy for cholera in
Itogd. I hare never fniletl to ettre :t
•use of choHm since I commenced
using this preparation in 1870. I don't
think it will cure every disease n hog
is incident to; but I do think, if used
as » preventative, it will keep hint in
a heslthv condition. Hence, I snv to
those who Are raising hogs, try it. It
tsrsts but little and it will do no inju
ry to vonr bogs:
First—Mix equal quantities of tin
slaked lime and soda.
Second—Mix equal quantities of
alum, salt and saltpetre.
Third—To one part of mixture Xn.
2 add two parts of mixture No. 1.
Directions^—A* a preventative, give
to each hog over one year old, one
table-spoon fit I twice a week. To cure
i ease, one iqmouful every other da)
ill a rare is effected. It is lies! to give
it iu dry.meal, lmt it may lie given in
warm slop.
I gave it to one ling that was too
sick to eat the meal, in milk-warm
slopy and a eyre was effected in less
than six hours.. 1 have never had In
ivc hut one (lose, llogs should he
liandleit very carefully when sick
with cholera. My-oxperleneeand oh-
-ervqlion have been that they are al
most sure to die if worried too much.

Mr, John Hamilton, n son of

this patlMie incident of hi?* father:
My ffafficr’f residence was in the
ountry, toward the uorth of Kcw
Y'ork Island. Ili.« law* office in the
l ity was rather a shabby affair. The
lav before the tine! 1 was sitting in a
room, when at a slight noise. 1 turned
wround and saw my father in the
doorway, stauding: silently there and
looking at me with a most sweet anti
beautiful expression of countenance.
It was full of tenderness, anti without
any of the business preoccupation he
sometimes hath “John,** he said,
when I hail discovered him, ‘won't
you come and sleep with me to-ni«'ht ?*
His voice was very frank, as ifJieliad
been my brother instead of mv father.
That night I went to his bed, anil in
the morning veVy early he awakened
me, and taking my hands in hi.s paint*:,
all foitr hands extended, he said, and
fold me to repeat, the Lord’s Prayer.
Seventy-five years have since passed
ver my hop'd, anti I have forgotten
many things, hut not that tender ex
pression when he stood looking at me
in the door, nor the prayer we made
together the morning before the duel.
