and at that writing the prevailing
opinion with nurses and medical nt-

out of danger, but we are jMi.’ ied

morning, just about light, and about
a half hour after the hums were
dressed, she was found to be a corpse.
From all the information we can
gain regarding this sad and unfor

medical skill and nursing, pneumonia

The Georgia legislature is still at
work. They have not yet accoin-
plisned anything of special import
ance. The judgsliip question seems
to lie the order of the -day just now,
ami a general 're-arrangement will
probably be accomplished. A ques
tion has arisen ns to which of the
judg.liips are vacant, anti even the
Albany Circuit is in doubt.
Numerous prominent citizens of
Americus have issued a call for a
meeting of all persons interested to
take action upon the propriety of con
necting Atnericiis by rail with the
Brunswick, Albany and Eufaulallail
joad, which has | lately passed into
the hands of an English company

The Bill introduced in the Legisla

circuits from twenty to sixteen, thus
arranges our Southwest (ieorgia
counties:
The Third Circuit sltall be compos

Irwin, Lowndes. Miller, Mitchell,
Thomas and Worth.
The Fourth Circuit of the counties
of Calhoun, Clay, Dougherty, Early.
Lee, Quitman, Kandolph, Stewart
and Terrell.
This is how they have begun to
wave the bloody shirt for 1830. It ii
taken from the Philadelphia Preen:
If the solid south means—as is now
clearly visible—that power is to be
regained by rebels at any and every
cost, and by every imaginable out
rage on law, justice and manhood, it
is high time the north should become
solid, too. It would be an unheard
of thing in history for conquerors to
tamely submit to be ruled by the con
quered.
Got. McClellan, of New Jersey, has
a heart as big as the State over which
he presides. With a noble, patriotic
and Christian motive he has recoin
mended that thanksgiving be held in
every church in New Jersey, and that
anopportnnty be given every one to
make “an offering of money for the
relief of the fever sufferers in the
Sooth, both as a thank offering t<
Sod for abundant mercies toward
us, and as a pledge of our fraternal
love to our afflicted fellow citizens of
the South.” This is peculiarly sooth
ing to our people, and they thank
their brethren of Jersey for their
feeling of love and fraternity. How
different it is from the programme
ljsyea is just adapting!

The Atlanta Constitution says:—
There is nothing that the Radicals are
not claiming in their delirium of joy.
The Providence Journal even claims
the recovery of the upper branch of
Congress in 1880. The sane Spring-
field Republican, however, reminds
it that a careful study of the situation
shows that in 1880 cannot possibly
secure more than 37 out of 76 xena.

1583, is the earliest day at which the
Republicans can hope to secure con

should meanwhile strike the Demo

two or three seats which Republican
Governors or Legislatures would till.

From present indications we Will
ere long be greeted by the “cold, chil

ing awl wrappings are now in order,
and no doubt many are now agita
ting in their mind as to whether or
not “that same old over-coat” will
stand the storms of another winter.
Oor planters have about completed
tiie sowing of llieir wheat, ami from
ivlmt we can ascertain, the acreage of
the crop will be greater tlinn for main
.rears past, which we think points ver'v
favorably to the pros|ierlty of our
people. • The present very low price
of cotton has convinced them that
there is no chance for profit in the
production of it.
i suppose “Mustang” will give yon
a full account of the proceeding's of
our Superior Court, and how very
unceremoniously it was brought to it
close. We are very anxiously await
ing the appointment of another Judge
by our legislature, and if Judge
Crisp is not his own successor then
look out for regrets, and abuse heaped
upon tiie heads of our worthy Repre
sentatives at large. Never in ourlivc-
lutve we seen or heard of an official
who has given such universal satis

of the people in his Circuit I do not
really think there would lie one dis
senting.
It was our very good fortune to at
tend a social dance last evening giv

it has been some time since we have
seen, in our little village, such a gath
ering; and we think from what we
could see Hint every one enjoyed
themselves hugely. We noticed in
attendance Misses Beall and Ormond,
of Atlanta, and Miss Peacock, of Key -

Symptonis of a Diseased Liver.
P AIN in the right side, under the
edge of the ribs, increases on pres
sure; sometimes the pain is in the left
side; the patient is rarely able to lie
on the left side; sometimes the pain is
felt under the shoulder blade, and it
frequently extends to the top of the
shoulder, and is sometimes mistaken
for rheumatism in the arm. The
stomach is affected with loss of appe
tite and sickness; the bowels in gen
eral are costive, sometimes alternative
with lax; the head is troubled with
pain, accompanied with a dull, heavy
sensation in the back part. There is
generally a considerable loss of mem
ory, accompanied with a painful sen
sation of having left undone some
thing which ought to have been done.
A slight, dry cough is sometimes an
attendant. The patient complains of
weariness and debility; he is easily
startled, his feet are cold or burning,
and he complains of a prickly senKt-
tion of the skin; his spirits are low;
and although he is satisfied that exer
cise would be beneficial to him, yet
he can scarcely summon up fortitude
enough to try it. In fact, he distrusts
every remedy. Several of the above
symptoms attend thc disease, but cases
have occurred where few of them ex
isted, yet examination of the body,
after death, has shown the liver to
have been extensively deranged.
AGUE AND FEVER.
Dr. C. McLane’s Liver Pills, in
cases of Ague and Fever, when
taken with Quinine, are productive of
the most happy results. No better
cathartic can he used, preparatory to,
or after taking Quinine. We would
advise all who arc afflicted with this
disease to give them a fair trial.
For all bilious derangements, and as
a simple purgative,they arc unequaled.
