anything but a veto. In tliat event,
it is the duty of the Democrats to re

revolutionary, auil ia au incubus upon

They havo the time-honored aud oft-

The Radicals hare, for eighteen

most pitiful weakness for the Demo

they accept any compromise, however
fair It may seem. The political faith

proved sadly wanting, and they cau-

have taken a position which they
know to lie sanctioned by numerous
precedents. To yield one foot of

the Confidence of the people iu their
integrity aud ability. They must
stand firm, lot the cousequeiices lie

We are permitted to copy a para
graph from General Gordod in a pri
vate letter to a friend, by which it
may be inferred that he will take no
notice of Dr. Felton’s letter, so the
controversy may, and we trust wiil,
never lie renewed. He nay*: “The
charge that I assailed Mrs. Felton in
the canvass or out of it, is too absurd
to need a word from me. The whole
of tlie 7th district knows that 1 never
referred to her, even remotely, nor
did I assail Dr. Felton.” Hut enough
of this.—CarlerteiUe Express.
