THE FA IK.
Considering the stringency of the
times, the rapid advances of grass in
crops, and other like hindrances !im» nu
merous to mention, the Spring Fair,
w liieh closed here oil Friday evening
last, was a Ini Miaul success. Large
t delegations came from neighiMiring towns
1 villages on the second day, and
largely swelled the attendance. Me
have already w ritleuof the lirst day. T’he
two days following might Is* as largely
and joyfully spread ii|miii pa|M*r as was
the lirst, did our space admit; hut the
“great |M»litical sensation” crowds and
narrows us down to a simple statement
of the fact that success crow ned the ef
fort.
MV should like much |o present full
reports of the Fair, given by olir clever
brethren of the press w ho were in attend
ance, lint iniisl content ourselves with
only a lew extracts:
T’he lair was a success, in our judg
ment , and the crowd from T’honiasville,
ive Im*Mcvc, enjoyed the invasion very
much. May tlie A*s«H*iatiou continue to
live and pms|M*r.—TTiomasvilk* Enter
prise.
T’he Albany fair closes to-day. Every
Ixnly pleased with the exhibition, of
course. Display good, crowd g<Nnl, mu
sic excellent—hilt there was one draw
back: the dinner was execrable. T’he
Ass<M‘iation ought to know that a g«»od,
hot, s’juare dinner i* tin* lirst thing
known to put a crowd in a good humor.
Visitors had conn* to regard the iHxinti-
ful hot dinners, served by the ladies of
the dillereiit Albany el ill relics as a s|M*eial
feature of tin* Albany fair, and great was
the disappointment at sight of the meagre
fare set forth by the Ass<M-iutiou. One
Camilla man declared that lit* would have
come hack to dinner, if he could have
found a train to bring him. 'There was
no musical contest, and those who listen
ed to the Albany hand were not surpris
ed to learn that there was not a hand in
the State willing In enter the lists against
it.—('amilla Dispatch,
“Chatham,” Major Sidney llerln*rt, of
the Savannah News, furnished his p:i|M*r
with some excellent letters from “the
Albany Fair.” MV extract only a few
paragraphs from his last:
Mr. T. IL M’iHingham, who has a large
anti successful vineyard, shows some line
i|M*ciuieus of his choicest varieties of

samples of his rustic home-made frames.
Mr. P. J. Daniel makes a handsome ex

Mr. B. Pnliusky, who may well he proud

worthy of a liberal patronage.
President L. E. Welch and his assis

taking in” tin* fair in the liest possible
manner. Hi* is a gentleman of wealth,
allure and extensive travel, and through
his lil»erality and energy, and t hat of Hon.
Nelson Tilt*, Albany is in a great measure
indebted for her very attractive fair

praise. ()|m*ii dt*ors and t»i>cii hearts have
abounded here during the week, and hun

In many res|K*ets the Albany Fair has

his cflieiciit j ml ice not only put the city
in a cleanly anil attractive condition, but
have maintained the ln*sl of good order.
T’he railroad companies have Im*cii very
liberal and accommodating, and in addi
tion to cheap rates of fare have run ex
cursion trains from all important points,
thus giving the fair much larger crowds
daily than it would have, secured from
the regular trains.
The present t*X|M>silion was as success

'This false impression was created by Hit'
