Wliat we most need and desire, how

cago, Aug. 14—The Times publishes a
lengthy resume of the celebrated Keene
wheat deal, which has now been closed
>ut with a loss to its organizers and par
ticipants of several millions of dollars.—
It says the Chicago owners of one-quar
ter of the deal find themselves each from
$2*20,000 to $300,000 out. What Keene £
Hoyt’s loss is cannot be estimated, and
H. Smith’s loss is estimated from a quar

commonplace life, we say, and we
sigh;
But why should wc sigh as wo say ?
The commonplace sun in the common
place sky;
Makes up the commonplace day;
The moon and the stars are commonplace
things,
And the llower that blooms, and the
bird that sings.
But dark were the world anti sad our lot
If the flowers failed and the sun shone
not;
And God who studies each separate soul,
Out of commonplace lives makes llis

been found to be a hind race rather than a
