LAWS OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA,
By Arthur Fetter,
CONTAINING all the Statutet, and the sub

and public nature, and now of force, which have
been passed in said State from the year 1820, to
the year 1829, both inclusive, with occasional
explanatory notes and connecting references, and
a list of the statutes repealed or obsolete. To
which is added, an appendix, containing th*

also, references to such local acts as relate «o
/•ten*, counties. Internal Navigation'ffeunty Ac
ademies, bfc., and a collection of the most appro
ved forms used in carrying the above named
laws into effect; with a copious Index to the
whole It will something like a continuation
of Prince’s Digest repealed or altered. It may
be observed, that the Legislature of Georgia are
in the eaostant practice of repealing, altering,
or amending Laws passed at tbe«r previous *e»

this publication may be learned from the
following extracts.
The Editor of the India Gazette, pub

remarks: —
“ Dr. Cbanning has published compar
atively little ; hut on every subject that
he has approached, be has cast anew aud
interesting light. “ Nihil legigit quod
non ornavit.” We say nothing of his Ser
mons on the Evidences of Christianity,
and other Theological subjects, some of
which havo received the eulogy of the
Quarterly Roview, but his estimate of the
character of Napoleon Buonaparte, his
Review of the Life and writings of Miltou,
aud his more recent examination of (he
Works of Fenelon, all siamp him as a
writer of the highest power, and one of
profound, original and ennobling thought.
The thoughts dial breathe and ihs words
that burn, abound in his writings more
than in those of any modern author with
which we are acquainted. He seems to
move and live ib a pur* and elevated at

CERTIFICATE.
Philadelphia, Feb. 2011, 1827.
Mn. WM. W. Potter:—
DEAR SIR :—Two years have now elapsed
since my daughter Mary Ann has been, by
the use of your invaluable Medicine, restored to
a state of much better health than we could rea
sonably have expected ; and as a duty I owe to
suffering humanity, and gratitude to yourself, I
tender this, trusting it may prove useful to those
similarly afflicted.
About twelve years ago she complained of se
vere pain* iu her back and Lip, which grew
worse and worse, until she was almost unable to
move, or turn herself in bed. During this pe
riod, her hack and hip swelled very much, and
the pain extended down the leg, which lost its
natural power: a wasting of flesh —loss of appe
tite, and emaciation ensued, and her countenance
despicted misery. She continued without much,
if aur, oltcraliou for the better, (keeping her
strictly under the advice of an emineut medical
gentleman,J for a considerable time, when the
swelling on the hip began to increase ; her phy
sician's prescriptions became useless; they re
commended the steel jacket —one was procured,
tried, but in vain, and the disease seemed to hid
dc-fiance to all the well known remedies in that
complaint, that were here employed. She was
then considered as incurable. Her sister having
died of the same complaint, after an illness at
four years, we were of opinion that Mary Ann
must share the same fate, (laving heard cf the
remarkable success of your Catholicon in scro
fulous complaints, I was reso ved to make a trial
of it. She begau to use it, aud in a few days
the swelling on the hip broke, and discharger!
greatly: she could theu use her crutches—in a
few weeks longer her pains disappeared—the
discharge ceused—the ulcer healed—h-r appe
tite returned-—anil her whole system resumed its
wonted rigor. I belie ve, bad your invaluable
medicice L-een used when she first complained, it
would have prevented het fro'tn lining a cr.ppie
